Luna county is famous for its good water, 4 gentle seasons, good air quality, relaxed atmosphere, and creative and friendly people. Abundant sunshine provides great solar potential for power and water heating. Unobstructed sunrises and sunsets and views in all directions. Deming, NM is just up the road about ½ hour and provides shopping, building materials, hardware, health food, good library, and hospital. We researched and picked this area to create our school, because of its growing season, unique micro-climate, tillable soil, accessibility, tranquility, views, low taxes, and reliable well water. The property is a secluded 460+ acres easily accessed via a maintained gravel road 2 miles from pavement. This property is at 4350 elevation in the Chihuahuan high desert, known for its Chapparal (herb), Mesquite trees (food producing), varieties of cactus (all edible), Yucca (edible), Mormon Tea (herb), cool winters (not cold), warm summers (sometimes hot), summer monsoon rains, clear nightime skies for star watchers. This property is secluded at the end of the road with nearest neighbor ½ mile away. Close and lock the gate and have all the privacy you need. All building has been done on an 80 acre section with the adjacent 388 acre parcel blocking access to power for adjoining properties (little possibility of future developement). Lack of restrictions provide unlimited possibilities for potential growth and expansion. The property slopes gently to the east allowing for good air drainage and little frost in the winter. Property exudes peaceful and healing energy, noticed by all who visit or stay. We have created a unique facility that could continue as a school teaching healing methods, function as a health spa, a large family home, live-in care facility, spiritual community, or simply as a great place to be. Day trips include hot springs, state parks, Gila national forest, ancient cliff dwellings, lakes, mountains, wineries, Mexico shopping, Las Cruces, El Paso, and Silver City. The property and buildings were designed as a personal residence and school for healing. It includes housing for the students that came to our school. Each building was designed for a specific use and constructed of alternative materials to take advantage of solar gain for free heating, cooling, and power. There is over 11,000 sq of space in about 12 buildings: Our main building is the kitchen with attached greenhouse. Fixed arrays and tracker arrays provide abundant power for any and all tasks. Temperature controlled battery storage room, forklift batteries, Trace components, over-sized copper wiring assure trouble-free and almost maintenance-free operation. Being off-grid means also using the most energy efficient and highest quality components. Water is pumped from well using Sun Pumps 2 hp solar direct pump. Pump sits at 400, storage tanks sitt 560 uphill of the well and the pump puts out 12gpm at the tanks. With 3hp ac pump running off generator power the well puts out 20gpm at the tanks. Plenty of water. Trackers hold 24 solar panels that produce power for the well pump with plenty of pumping time. There are an additional 50 solar panels in operation supplying about 6.5 kilowatts to he various buildings. Total battery storage is about equivalent to 74 golf cart 6v batteries. Wood-fired sauna with water tank for cold plunge located behind main buildings (for privacy). At least 7+ years wood stored for future use.
