HP200LX < > Palm Synchronization

This humble page is intended to share available information on HP200LX < > Palm Synchronization. I have only done it because, to my knowledge, no page like this exists on the web. It is under construction.

Rationale: Some people have backup HP 200LXs, some have backup Palms. I thought, why have a backup device you don't use when you can have one you do use, only for different purposes? My HP200LX, which used to be my only palmtop, is now my backup device in case I lose my Palm device, except I do still use it for certain things I cannot use my Palm for. Therefore I have additional motivation to keep both devices in sync, since I do use both.

Although I intend to provide as much information as possible, I am assuming people are reasonably familiar with both devices.

Native format synchronization of files other than plain text is difficult, if not impossible in some cases. PIM synchronization is doable, as well as databases, but it is involved. I have provided links for the tools to do it (under Windows only, so far), but I have only dwelled on IR sync to any real extent, plus I have written conversion scripts for outliners and mindmappers. Check out the links too.

The following are methods I am aware of:

1._Using_a_flash_card

2._Using_IrDA

3._Via_Windows

Outliners_&_MindMappers

(The links below are placeholders for future information; currently they are empty.)

4._Via_Linux

5._Via_Mac

Recently I became aware of two other HPLX < > Palm sites:

Lx_Palm : Excellent site, but only in Japanese

Lx2Palm : In English. Finally a real programmer joins the fray!
