The Lake Braddock High School Volleyball Team named Stars player, Megan Mullen, "Queen of the Court" last night after the Stripes defeated the Stars in three games. The Stars easily took the first game, 30-18, behind big kills from Megan Mullen and the defense of Mara Mordini. The Stripes fought back in the second game and snuck by the Stars, 30-28. At one game a piece, the Stars and Stripes were close until it was tied at 15-15. The stripes took control of the game and closed the final match of the season with a 30-23 victory.
Stripes Take Stars Again, 2-0
The games were close in score and even closer in competition, but the Stripes pulled it out with the third win of the season winning 30-27, 30-28. “Queen of the Court” was voted by the Maryland School for the Deaf volleyball team and Ellen Faaleolea received it for the first time this season. Her Stripes team of Kate Hannas, Denise Frawley, Jen Beall, Candace Green, Lisa McLaughlin and Joanne Marshall are now up 3-1 on the Stars.
Stripes Win 2-1
Following a couple injury timeouts on the Stripes side, the match was called just after three games. The Stripes came out with a 22-16 lead in game one, but the Stars weren’t going to give up and they closed in to tie it at 23-23. Although it was a valiant effort from the Stars, the Stripes won 25-23. Game two was the Stars all the way. They took the lead early, but the Stripes battled back and made it a game. The Stars won 26-24. Game three was similar to the first two games where one team takes an early lead and the other claws thier way back in. This time it was the Stripes again and they had a victory at 25-23. The match was called early and the Stripes won the third match-up of the season between the two teams. The Washington-Lee High School Volleyball Team voted Vendula Kurcova the "Queen of the Court"! The Stripes team consisted of Ellen Faaleolea, Denise Frawley, Candace Green, Joanne Marshall, Lisa McLaughlin and Jennifer Beall.
Stars and Stripes Now 1-1
The five game match was a battle from the beginning. All five games were equally intense and competitive. Game one was a nail biter while both teams traded game point several times before it ended with a Stars 32-30 win. In game two, while Denise Frawley, “Queen of the Court” was killing every ball she was set, her Stripes team was able to pull ahead and take the game 25-22. Game three was much like game two, but the Stars pulled it out 25-23. The Stripes weren’t done fighting and they took game four 25-23. Now with both teams 2-2, the last game was just as competitive as the first. They battled till the end and the Stars team of Maren Stuart, Megan Mullen, Sara Brenner, Rachel Vander Griend, Daniela Pastore, Lauren Dunning, Tania Nagl, Vendula Kurcova and Kyrie Adams came away with the victory, 15-13.
Stripes Sweep Stars On Opening Night, March 22
Jaime Pryor was named “Queen of the Court” by the Middletown High School Volleyball Team after her Stripes team of Candace Green, Joanne Marshall, Ellen Faaleolea, Kate Hannas and Jennifer Beall swept the Stars in three games. Both teams were competitive and the Stars played tough, but in the end the Stripes came out on top with a 25-22, 25-22, 26-24 victory.

one (1) Public Address Announcer, and
at least one (1) Referee
to participate in a:

The Tour will also provide the School with a Tour Liability Insurance Release. This will release the School from any liability due to injuries to players and/or coaches.
In return the School will provide the following items:
The designing and printing of tickets for the event,
A regulation volleyball court and net for the match,
Balls for the warm-up,
National Anthem, either sung or pre-recorded,
A wireless microphone for the Question and Answer session, and

Also, the School agrees to fill the necessary positions below:
Two (2) linespeople,
Two (2) scorekeepers,
Four (4) ball retrievers, and
A certified athletic trainer from 6:30-9 p.m.
The Washington, D.C. Women’s Professional Volleyball Tour is a non-profit organization that organizes professional athletes to provide an entertainment package for Washington, D.C. area schools. Even though the Tour does not make money, the participants are professional athletes and do get paid for their services. Therefore, the Tour requires each School to GUARANTEE the following:
A minimum of one hundred (100) tickets sold at a price of six dollars ($6) per ticket,
NO Complimentary tickets will be given out,
Someone responsible for supplying payment to the Tour the night of the event, either with a check from the school or booster club, or by cash.
The Tour will share equally with the School, the gross revenue from ticket sales. The School can supplement its revenue by selling concessions, T-shirts, etc. during the match. The tour suggests that the School advertise the match at the School, in the local middle schools, youth groups, community centers, and in the community in general. The more tickets sold the larger the profit for the school and its volleyball program. Hopefully the event will generate interest in the school, the volleyball program and volleyball in general for years to come.
