DVC VCRs with an analog line-in connection
are being manufactured with a copy prevention
system that interacts with the copy guard
systems in pre-recorded videos (such as those
you can rent from your local movie shop).
Videos you have made will not have this
prevention system, so there will be no problems
making copies from your home-made VHS or 8
mm movies onto DVC VCR. However, we are told that, if you copie a DV rented movie to a Hi8 or 8mm machine the copieguard will be defeated. Also goimg through a mixer or color correctper workes sometimes.
And, of course, DVC's
greatest advantage in editing is that the DVC
copies of DVC originals are exact copies with
no loss.
Digital capture with no generation loss. The DV capture application transfers the
DV data stream from your camcorder or tape deck to your computer's hard disk. Because the
capture is done digitally, there is no generation loss from your source tapes to your hard disk.
Clips may be captured in real-time or as time-lapse movies. Both 4:3 and 16:9 widescreen
aspect ratios are supported.
Keyboard deck controls. MotoDV also makes it easy to zero in on the scenes you want to
capture by allowing you to control the DV camcorder or tape deck from the computer. The
deck control keypad includes start, stop, pause, rewind, fast forward, slow play and step
buttons. MotoDV's SearchDV feature automatically advances or rewinds to the next or
previous clip on the tape. Each control on the keypad has an equivalent key command on the
keyboard for fast, easy control.
using the DV
circuitry in your camcorder to play back the streams at full size, in full motion, recording them
to DV cassette tapes if you so desire. The DV Player may be used either as a stand alone
application or from within Adobe Premiere or Digital Origin EditDV as an export plug-in.
QuickTime compatible. Clips captured with MotoDV are automatically converted to
QuickTime format with separate audio tracks to make them easier to edit. Because Radius
SoftDV is a QuickTime codec, you can edit and composite your footage in leading applications
like Digital Origin EditDV, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe After Effects. You can also render
computer-generated animations with SoftDV and output them digitally to tape.
Real-time capture. Gets all the information from the DV stream into your computer at
full resolution (720 x 480 for NTSC, 720 x 576 for PAL), in full-motion (60 fields per
second for NTSC, 50 fields per second for PAL)
Time-lapse capture. Captures frames at a specified interval to create time-lapse
movies
Support for widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio. Tags widescreen footage as 16:9 clips and
adjusts the built-in preview to the 16:9 aspect ratio
On-the-fly QuickTime conversion. DV clips are converted to QuickTime format with a
separate audio track so that they can be immediately used in any QuickTime application
Timecode display. Allows you to note the in and out points of the clips you capture, as
well as the date and time you recorded your footage
Digital Origin PhotoDV. MotoDV includes Digital Origin PhotoDV, the award-winning
utility that enables you to quickly and easily capture gorgeous still images. The frames

or as source images for 360-degree panoramas, 3D objects, and animated gifs. They
