Knowing what was happenning with Freddie, Queen went quickly back to the studios to record the one that could possibly be their last album. This time, the band was stronger than ever, there were no fights, no arguments, Finally they realized that Queen wasn't just 4 guys making music... they were a family. Queen didn't want to make just a good album, they wanted their last material to be the best ever. They decided to go back to their old 'Classic Queen' style of the 70's, which was was combined with some new harmonious rhythms and sounds, and that's what made 'Innuendo' so unique and different from other Queen albums.

Innuendo

Words and music by Queen
Released on January 14th 1991
Spanish Guitar by Steve Howe
Highest UK Chart Position: 1 - for 1 week (6 weeks on chart)
Highest Australian Chart Position: 27 (9 weeks on chart)
Highest Dutch Chart Position: 4 (9 weeks on chart)
Highest Italian Chart Position: 6 (4 months on chart)

Whenever you hear a drums roll, it's because something 'BIG' is going to happen', but 'Innuendo' was even bigger than just 'BIG'. This is one one of those epic tracks that can only be made by one band on earth. The impact was so big that the single peaked at #1 on it's first week of release, and despite being so long, it had a lot of radio airplay. The video for the song won a couple of prestigious awards. Images from the World War II, were taken off from the original video since the single was released almost at the same time as the Gulf War started. The spanish guitar in the middle is played by Steve Howe from 'Yes'. It's a shame that history doesn't give this song as much credit as it deserves, because it surely deserves a spot next to 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.

(One two three four)

While the sun hangs in the sky and the desert has sand
While the waves crash in the sea and meet the land
While there's a wind and the stars and the rainbow
Till the mountains crumble into the plain

Oh yes we'll keep on trying
Tread that fine line
Oh we'll keep on trying yeah
Just passing our time

While we live according to race, colour or creed
While we rule by blind madness and pure greed
Our lives dictated by tradition, superstition, false religion
Through the aeons, and on and on

Oh yes we'll keep on trying
We'll tread that fine line
Oh oh we'll keep on trying
Till the end of time, Till the end of time

Through the sorrow all through our splendour
Don't take offence at my innuendo

You can be anything you want to be
Just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be
Be free with your tempo be free be free
Surrender your ego be free be free to yourself

If there's a God or any kind of justice under the sky
If there's a point if there's a reason to live or die
If there's an answer to the questions we feel bound to ask
Show yourself - destroy our fears - release your mask

Oh yes, we'll keep on trying
Hey, tread that fine line
Yeah we'll keep on smiling yeah (yeah yeah)
And whatever will be, will be
We'll keep on trying, We'll just keep on trying
Till the end of time, till the end of time
Till the end of time

I'm Going Slightly Mad

Words and music by Queen (Freddie)
Released on March 4th 1991
Highest UK Chart Position: 22 (5 weeks on chart)
Highest Dutch Chart Position: 13 (5 weeks on chart)

This is a very unusual track. You might not like it at all at the beginning (that's why probably it didn't chart as high as Queen expected it) but if you listen very well, you will find that this is a track with a lot of musical complexity, and it's very 'Queen'. On the video you can notice that Freddie looks very skinny, since his disease was quite advanced at that moment, but still with a lot energy to give. This humorous video features a gorilla, and Cleo... the penguin who pooped the leather couch while the band was sitting there. This very funny clip can be seen on the 'Champions Of The World Video'.

When the outside temperature rises
And the meaning is oh so clear
One thousand and one yellow daffodils
Begin to dance in front of you - oh dear

Are they trying to tell you something
You're missing that one final screw
You're simply not in the pink my dear
To be honest you haven't got a clue

I'm going slightly mad, I'm going slightly mad
It finally happened - happened
It finally happened - oooh oh
It finally happened... I'm slightly mad
Oh dear

I'm one card short of a full deck
I'm not quite the shilling
One wave short of a shipwreck
I'm not my usual top billing
I'm coming down with a fever
I'm really out to sea
This kettle is boiling over
I think I'm a banana tree

Oh dear
I'm going slightly mad, I'm going slightly mad
It finally happened - happened
It finally happened - uh huh
It finally happened... I'm slightly mad
Oh dear

Oooh, oooh, ah, ah
Oooh, oooh, ah, ah
I'm knitting with only one needle
Unravelling fast it's true
I'm driving only three wheels these days
But my dear how about you

I'm going slightly mad, I'm going slightly mad
It finally happened, It finally happened - oh yes
It finally happened, I'm slightly mad
Just very slightly mad
And there you have it

And you're rushing headlong you've got a new goal
And you're rushing headlong out of control
And you think you're so strong
But there ain't no stopping.. and there's nothing you can do about it

Nothing you can do, no there's nothing you can do about it
No there's nothing you can ,nothing you can, nothing you can do about it
And you're rushing headlong you've got a new goal
And you're rushing headlong out of control
And you think you're so strong
But there ain't no stopping no there's nothing you can do about it... Yeah

Hey, he used to be a man with a stick in his hand
Hoop diddy diddy - hoop diddy do
She used to be a woman with a hot dog stand
Hoop diddy diddy - hoop diddy do
Now you've got soup in the laundry bag
Now you've got strings you're gonna lose your rag
You're getting in a fight
then it ain't so groovy when you're screaming in the night
Let me out of this cheap B movie

Headlong, down the highway and you're rushing
Headlong, out of control
And you think you're so strong
But there ain't no stopping and you can't stop rocking
And there's nothing you can, nothing you can ,nothing you can do about it

When a red hot man meets a white hot lady
Hoop diddy diddy - hoop diddy do
Soon the fire starts raging gets you more than half crazy
Hoop diddy diddy - hoop diddy do
Now they start freaking everywhere you turn
You can't start walking because your feet got burned
It ain't no time to figure wrong from right
Cos' reason's out of the window better hold on tight

You're rushing headlong
Headlong out of control - yeah
And you think you're so strong
But there ain't no stopping
And there's nothing, you nothing, you nothing, you can do about it at all

Yeah, yeah
Alright - go
And you're rushing headlong down the highway
And you're rushing headlong out of control
And you think you're so strong, but there ain't no stopping
There's nothing nothing nothing you can do about it

Ah, ha, Headlong
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Headlong, Headlong, Headlong
gnoldeaH, gnoldeaH, gnoldeaH, gnoldeaH

I Can't Live With You
Words and music by Queen (Brian)

A song quite similar to 'Headlong', which is not too similar, and it's pretty cool. A new version for 'Queen Rocks' has an awesome intro of this song.

Rating: 9.0

I can't live with you, but I can't live without you
I can't let you stay, Oooh, but I can't live if you go away
I don't know just how it goes, all I know is I can't live with you

Yeah I'm having a hard time
I'm walking a fine line between hope and despair
You may think that I don't care
But I travelled a long road to get hold of my sorrow
I tried to catch a dream, but nothing's what it seems
Love is saying baby it's all right
When deep inside you're really petrified
Lover turns to hater on this escalator

I can't live with you, yeah, but I can't live without you
I can't breathe if you stay, but I can't bear you to go away
I don't know what time it is, all I know is I can't live with you

We're stuck in a bad place, we're trapped in a rat race
And we can't escape... maybe, there's been some mistake
We're trying to make a high score, we're walking through a closed door
And nobody's winning, we're just sinning against ourselves
Hold on baby tell me it's all right
Anger's breaking from the hurt inside
Passions screaming hotter
Doing what we gotta do - yeah

I can't live with you, I can't live with you
I can't live, I can't live
I can't, I can't live with you
But baby, I'll never ever, leave you

I can't live with you, but I can't live without you
Cos' I'm in love with you, Oooh, and everything about you
I can't live with you
No I just can't live, I just can't live
I can't live with you
Yeah, and I can't live without you

Through the madness through the tears
We've still got each other for a million years - yeah

Oooh yeah
Yeah - I can't live without you - yeah, yeah
I can't live without you
Yeah, yeah oh, oh, oh
I can't live without you, I can't live without you, I can't live without you
Oh oh, I can't live without you, baby, baby, baby
Without you... I can't live without you

Don't Try So Hard
Words and music by Queen (John)

This is a very nice ballad. It features synthesized sounds, which make it sound great. Just like in the 'Show Must Go On', Freddie seems to give all his heart and soul singing these two beautiful songs.

Rating: 9.2

If you're searching out for something, don't try so hard
If you're feeling kind of nothing, don't try so hard
When your problems seem like mountains
You feel the need to find some answers
You can leave it for another day... don't try so hard

But if you fall and take a tumble, it won't be far
If you fail you mustn't grumble, thank your lucky stars
Just savour every mouthful, and treasure every moment
When the storms are raging round you, stay right where you are

Oh don't try so hard
Oh don't take it all to heart
It's only fools they make these rules
Don't try so hard

One day you'll be a sergeant major, Oh you'll be so proud
Screaming out your bloody orders, Hey, but not too loud
Polish all your shiny buttons, Dress as lamb instead of mutton
But you never had to try to stand out from the crowd

Oh what a beautiful world, this is the life for me
Oh what a beautiful world, it's the simple life for me

Oh don't try so hard
Oh don't take it all to heart
It's only fools - they make these rules
Don't try so hard, Don't try so...
Don't try so hard

Ride The Wild Wind
Words and music by Queen (Roger)

If you're an expert in Queen songs, you will easy realize that this is a Roger song, even when the credits say it's written by Queen. It has that 'fast beat' very common on Roger's tracks. Seems like Roger loves speed. Now I know why he loves cars and races so much.

Rating: 8.4

Ride the wild wind (Push the envelope don't sit on the fence)
(Hey, hey, hey) Ride the wild wind
Live life on the razor's edge (Hey, hey, hey)
Gonna ride the whirlwind
It ain't dangerous - enough for me

Get your head down baby (yeah) we're gonna ride tonight
Your angel eyes are shining bright
I wanna take your hand, lead you from this place
Gonna leave it all behind, check out of this rat race

Ride the wild wind (hey, hey, hey)
Ride the wild wind (hey, hey, hey)
Gonna ride the wild wind
It ain't dangerous - enough for me

Tie your hair back baby, we're gonna ride tonight (yeah)
We got freaks to the left, we got jerks to the right
Sometimes I get so low, I just have to ride
Let me take your hand, let me be your guide

Oooh ride the wild wind (Don't sit on the fence)
(Hey, hey, hey) Ride the wild wind
(Live life on the razor's edge) (Hey, hey hey)
Gonna ride the wild wind
It ain't dangerous - enough for me

Yeah ride the wild wind (hey, hey, hey)
Oooh ride the wild wind (hey, hey, hey)
Gonna ride it ride the wild wind
It ain't dangerous - enough for me
Ride the wild wind, ride the wild wind
(Hey, hey, hey) The wild wind
The wild wind

All God's People
Words and music by Queen (Freddie) and Mike Moran
Keyboards on 'All God's People' by Mike Moran

When I hear this song, I always think about 'The Lion King'... and why the 'Lion King'?... because the music in the middle sounds like that part when Simba is going back home. Maybe Elton John and Tim Rice stole Queen's idea?... who knows. Let me hear your opinion about this.

Rating: 8.8

So all you people give freely
Make welcome inside your homes
Thank God you people give freely
Don't turn your back on the lesson of the Lord
All prime ministers (yeah) and majesty around the world
Open your eyes look touch and feel
Rule (rule with your heart ) with your heart
Live (live with your conscience) with your conscience

And love, love
Love, love, and be
Love, love, and be free
We're all God's people (we're all God's people)
Gotta face up, better grow up
Gotta stand tall and be strong
Gotta face up, better grow up
Gotta face up, better grow up
Gotta stand tall and be strong
Gotta face up, better grow up
We're all God's people
(Gotta face up), (Better grow up)
(Gotta face up), (Better grow up)

Yeah, Yeah, yeah - yes there was this magic light...I said to myself
I'd better go to bed and have an early night
Then I, then I, then I, then I went into a dream

Rule with your heart and live with your conscience
We're all God's people give freely (yeah)
Make welcome inside your homes
Let us be thankful, he's so incredible

We're all God's, we're all God's
We're all God's, we're all God's people
We're all God's, we're all God's people
We're all God's people

These Are The Days Of Our Lives

Words and music by Queen (Roger)
Released on December 12th 1991
Released as a double-A sided single with "Bohemian Rhapsody" in most countries after Freddie's death.
Highest UK Chart Position: 1 - for 5 weeks (14 weeks on chart)
Highest Australian Chart Position: 5 (14 weeks on chart)
Highest Dutch Chart Position: 2 (11 weeks on chart)

The video for this song is Freddie's latest. In some way, he's like saying bye to all of his fans, and "I still love you" are his very last words in front of a camera. If you're a very sensitive Queen fan, bring some tissues before watching this video. Click here for a picture of Freddie on the video.

Sometimes I get to feeling I was back in the old days, long ago
When we were kids when we were young
Things seemed so perfect, you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young
The sun was always shining, we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately, I just don't know
The rest of my life's been just a show

Those were the days of our lives, the bad things in life were so few
Those days are all gone now but one thing is true
When I look and I find, I still love you
You can't turn back the clock you can't turn back the tide... Ain't that a shame
I'd like to go back one time on a roller coaster ride, when life was just a game
No use in sitting and thinking on what you did
When you can lay back and enjoy it through your kids
Sometimes it seems like lately, I just don't know
Better sit back and go with the flow

Because these are the days of our lives
They've flown in the swiftness of time
These days are all gone now but some things remain
When I look and I find no change

Those were the days of our lives, yeah
The bad things in life were so few
Those days are all gone now but one thing's still true
When I look and I find... I still love you

I still love you

Delilah

Words and music by Queen (Freddie)

One of Queen's funniest songs. Dedicated from Freddie to his favorite cat. Sounds nice, although I have to admit they sound very silly with those 'Meeow's. Roger hated the idea so much that he stepped out of the room when he Freddie told him, but considering it was one of Freddie's latest wishes, he said 'OK, I'll do it'. Above there's a picture of Delilah... ain't she a cutie?

Rating: 8.6

Delilah, Delilah
Oh my, oh my, oh my, you're irresistible
You make me smile when I'm just about to cry
You bring me hope you make me laugh - and I like it
You get away with murder so innocent
But when you throw a moody you're all claws and you bite
That's all right

Delilah, Delilah
Oh my, oh my, oh my, you're unpredictable
You make me so very happy
When you cuddle up and go to sleep beside me
And then you make me slightly mad
When you pee all over my Chippendale suite
Delilah, Delilah
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

You take over my house and home
You even try to answer my telephone
Delilah you're the apple of my eye

Meeow, meeow.... meeow!
Delilah, I love you Delilah
Oh you make me so very happy
You give me kisses and I go out of my mind oooh
Meeow, meeow, meeow
You're irresistible - I love you Delilah
Delilah I love you
Hah, hah, You make me very happy
Oh yeah - I love your kisses
I love your kisses, I love your kisses, I love your kisses
I love your, your, your kisses
I love your kisses

The Hitman
Words and music by Queen (Brian)

The fact that Freddie had AIDS, didn't mean he wasn't in the mood for some metal. The heaviest Queen track since 'Stone Cold Crazy'.

Rating: 8.3

Here we go
Oooh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Hey, I'm the hitman, stand aside
I'm the hitman, I want your life
Ain't no escaping, don't run and hide
There goes the neighbourhood
I'm gonna kill for your love... that's right

Hitman, Now don't you cry
I'm just it man, and you might get fried
Gun in my pocket, don't get me wrong
I'll be your hitman, I'm a fool for your love
I'm a head shredder... that's better

Baby, baby, baby
I'm a hitman, hitman, hitman
Yeah - trouble in the East, troubled in the West
Struggle with the beast, what a thief what a pest
Come back mother, nuke that sucker
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Who knows what I'm talking about, waste that brother... all right
Oooh, That's the way to do it

I'm the hitman, I'm your prize
But this hitman can cut you down to size
Love me baby, Don't be so cool
Love me, love me baby
I've been to the hitman school
Yeah, yeah

You're gonna make my day, gonna blow you away
That's when the fun begins (hitman)
Are you ready for the sting
Gonna waste that thing (hitman)
Hitman is king
Go, go, Oh hitman hitman

This song has one of the most beautiful guitar solos I've ever heard. A poignant song that will always make you think how wonderful this band was.

To spend the rest of our lives with each other
The rest of our days like two lovers
For ever, yeah

The Show Must Go On

Words and music by Queen (Brian)
Released on October 14th 1991
Highest UK Chart Position: 16 (10 weeks on chart)
Highest Australian Chart Position: 60 (9 weeks on chart)
Highest Dutch Chart Position: 7 (12 weeks on chart)
Highest Italian Chart Position: 7 (3 months on chart)

There's no other song that can touch the hearts of the Queen fans more than this one. A song that got a lot of radio airplay, but was played even a lot more after Freddie's death. One morning after writing this song, Brian asked Freddie if he could be able to sing it, and he said. 'Dear, I will sing everything you want me to'. This is a song about Freddie's struggle against AIDS, that's why he sang it like he has never done it before.

Empty spaces, what are we waiting for
Abandoned places, I guess we know the score
On and on, does anybody know what we are looking for
Another hero, another mindless crime
Behind the curtain in the pantomime
Hold the line, does anybody want to take it anymore

The show must go on, The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking, but my smile... still stays on

Whatever happens I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for
I guess I'm learning (I'm learning)
I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning (turning, turning) round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free

The show must go on, the show must go on, yeah
Oooh, inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking, but my smile... still stays on
Yeah oh, oh, oh

My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairy tales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly, my friends

The show must go on, yeah yeah
The show must go on, go on, go on
I'll face it with a grin
I'm never giving in, on with the show

I'll top the bill, I'll overkill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the, on with the show

The show must go on, go on, go on...
