JStock Tracker (Ver 1.1)

News (13th October 2002)
Version 1.1 has been updated and is now in release v1.1.1. All the old links pointing to ver1.1 have been updated to link to the new release. The updates are:
· A bug has been fixed that occurred when downloading new stock data.
· UK stock data can now be charted by appending ‘.L’ to the stock code. E.g. ‘BARC.L’.
Supported Operating Systems
Pocket PC:
o JStock Tracker (ver 1.1) uses the Java 1.2 class library (including the Swing GUI utilities). The most recent version of Personal Java that I have used on the iPAQ does not support these additional classes. However, there are other Operating Systems available for the Pocket PC, which support Java 1.2. SavaJe is one such OS and an early test version of Tracker 1.1 worked on this.
Windows 9x and Linux:
o JStock Tracker (ver 1.1) has been designed with the aim of being platform independent. Unfortunately I have only been able to properly test its performance on Windows 98. Limited testing on Linux has been successful.
Installation Instructions
Windows 9x and Linux:
3. Pre-requisite: Java Runtime Environment (downloadable from the Sun Java Website). I have been using version 1.3 and it's usually a safe bet to download the latest release. However, anything from version 1.2 and above should work.
4. Execute Tracker1.jar (double-click on the file if you are running Windows Explorer).
Running Instructions
o The first time Tracker 1.1 is run a 'Data' directory will be created to store all downloaded stock data. To begin, make sure that an Internet connection has been made and then enter a stock symbol into the empty choice box. As stock data is downloaded this choice box will be filled with previous selections.
