Entry for September 16, 2007
Sunday, September 16, 2007 - 9 a.m. Meet in front of Phipps Conservatory to carpool/caravan towards Washington, PA, where we will park and then ride to several covered bridge sites as part of the Washington/Greene County Covered Bridge Festival. We have picked out 3 bridges that are clustered near each other, so we will probably do about 12-15 miles of riding in total. Bring some water or other beverage, and there are plenty of food options at the bridge sites for lunch (usually burgers/hot dogs and typical carnival food). We will plan on returning to Oakland between 2 and 3 p.m., or if you need to return sooner that is fine. If you have any questions about this ride, or to help us with carpooling plans, please drop a line to let us know if you plan to attend. This is a great event, and since we will be on bikes, slow drivers on country roads won't be a bother at all. Oh, and don't forget to bring along a camera to capture some great scenic views! Hope to see all of you there! 2007-09-13 01:37:59 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link

We are riding the Henderson Trail outside of Bridgeville, off Washington Pike. It is a very nice trail which connects to the Montour Trail near the McDonald Bridge. The trail head is past Bridgeville and past the road to go to Hunting Ridge. You follow this about 3 miles to Hendersonville and the trail head is there. We will be riding about 25 miles. There is an ice cream store on Washington Pike on the way back if anyone would like to stop after the ride. The weather report at this time is for sunny and 76 degrees on Sunday so it should be a nice day to ride. Contact Chuck at lookinforabud101@aol.com and let me know if you are coming. If you need a ride let me kow. It is important to let us know you are coming so we know if we have to wait for anyone or not.
