Cosplay Chess @ FanimeCon 2008!
There will only be two games set up per day unless otherwise stated. If more can be set up then we will work that in. The board is not always going to be set up. You will only have a certain amount of time to play. If you sign up for two hours then you only have two hours and can't exceed the time.

Scheduled Games
BLEACH Chess at the Snake Statue in the park near the Marriott at 10am on Saturday.
NARUTO Chess in Exhibition Hall 2 at 5pm on Sunday.

Cosplay Chess Rules and Regulations: UPDATED RULES TO FOLLOW SOON

Treatment of the Board
-NO RIPPING WILL BE ALLOWED.
-No food or drinks allowed on the board with the exception of water.
-Please treat the board and player accessories respectfully. This is personal property.
-The Board will not be removed from Exhibit Hall 2 unless by the owners.
-There will be an inventory sheet for each game, that will be filled out before and after each game to ensure all the pieces are still together. If something is missing before the game, please contact Tabletop Staff and they will contact the owners.
-Please also let the staff know if an accident happens so they can contact us immediately.

Setting up a Game
Threads will be maintained at the Fanime Forums and also Cosplay.com Forums. If you would like to set up a separate thread for your own game at either forum, please let us (Tabletop) know you are doing so we are aware of your interest.
Post your interest in the main thread with:
-Your name (real or penname)
-If you want a general game or something specific [ie, Bleach only, Kingdom Hearts only, Characters with funny hats]
-Rental times are from Friday May 23rd until Sunday May 25th.
-Everything is first come first serve, however there will be plenty of opportunities to play!
-If you're going to be a player in the game, you don't need to know right then and there what costume you are going to be playing in. It is helpful to the organizer.
-When you have found enough people, you must email tabletop@fanime.com and receive a confirmation from them. You must also provide your name that you are registered under FanimeCon along with the genre of the game, time and day of your event and the commitment to reserve the game. Fan names will not be accepted. This is personal property, treat it with respect.
-Be committed to your group. Please show up or your game will be canceled and given to someone else.

How to Play Cosplay Chess
-There will be 32 pieces with a provided accessory or armband to designate their piece. You will need to find 32 people as well as two people to play the standard size game making a group of 35-36 people.
-There are two players to the side playing on a regular sized chess board and one or two controllers who will move the piece to their new square. These two jobs can be merged. Pleae be aware if you take the time to make a move, get up and then move your piece, that takes up valuable time.
-When time has run out, the game is ended in Sudden Death. The next side to lose a piece is the loser or the game can be determined with who has the most pieces left on the board.
-If the game is down to the Kings, the two kings play a game of rock paper scissors to determine the winner.

Rules for Cosplay Chess Organizers
-You must provide your badge plus a photo ID in order to reserve the game.
-If you are the organizer of the event, you can be in any position you want: chess piece, mover or one of the standard gamers.
-Chess Pieces MUST be in costume.
-Please show up with all of your members (2 standard players + 32 pieces + (1 or 2 movers if needed) = 34-36 people).
-The leader in charge of the game will be held responsible. Make sure the board is tacked down as much as possible to prevent injury.
-Convention, City and State rules all apply to the board. If a problem occurs that cannot be solved by other players, contact a Rover or call Con-Ops (number is on back of con badge).
-If a piece is late, you are more than welcome to give the spot to someone that is not already in the game being played.
-In general games, pieces do not always have to be fitting or appropriate to the color or fellow team mates. A queen character does not always have to be queen, or someone in all black doesn't have to be on the black side. It does look nice though.
-You are welcome to organize a game that has interpromotional franchises and genres (Naruto v Bleach, Ninjas v Pirates, Catgirls v Maids etc)
-If someone needs to leave temporarily or permanently from the game, please find a stand-in for them. If they are going to be gone just for a short moment then please try not to kill their piece. If you are a piece and are gone for a long time to tell the world you’re in a chess game and find that your piece is dead when you return, understand why your piece is gone.

Chess Piece Rules
-Please check in fifteen minutes before the game so the staff can get your information ready.
-Each square is only 3x3 feet. Please choose a costume that fits that area and doesn’t crowd others.
-Cosplayers are encouraged to “attack” and “die” as their character. Do not take too long in doing so. Remember the two hour time limit please. Cosplayers are also encouraged to taunt.
-Wait for your turn.
-No striking other opponents.
-BE A GOOD SPORT. This is just a game.
-Siting on the board is allowed. Refrain from snagging yourself on the board with your costume. Do not play with lose threads or tears.
-Be watchful where are are going on the board.
-If you are a piece: you are a piece, not a judge.

Spectator Rules
-Spactating here doesn’t mean you are a judge. “Sideseat” judging is not allowed.
-Don't crowd around the board or step on the board if you're not playing.
-Please refrain from taking up too much time from a cosplayer to take a picture while they are playing.
