Kids fishing has long been part of the Lake Cuyamaca history. Many people in San Diego have told us that trout fishing, as a kid, in the lake holds great memories. Located at 4600 feet, near Julian California, Lake Cuyamaca Recreation and Park District offers the ultimate in family outdoor fun. “Fishin’ in the Pines” free kids trout derby was started in 1998 to help introduce more kids to the sport of fishing. The event is totally free for all under 15 years old, but adults must buy a permit to fish. The date falls on hunting and fishing day “no license required” normally the 4th Saturday in September. Remember to stop and say "Thank you!" to all of our sponsors. The big 10th year derby is September 27th, 2008. Join us in the pines and remember with the price of gas you get the high sierras with a much shorter drive. The crew from All Outdoors Radio were a great help. They put out the word all over San Diego as well as contacting our national sponsors, so please listen in Sunday afternoons from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on KCBQ 1170 AM. The Orville P. Ball family was in attendance in full force, and all were greatly impressed with generosity of the fishing community.
None of this could have happened without the support of the Lake Cuyamaca staff and all of the volunteers that spent countless hours putting this event together. Thank you !! |
