Hey, welcome to Bean's 1/6th Customs!
This is my little collection of 1/6th scale custom and scratch built items. My main interest is in WWII military figures. Therefore, this site is composed of WWII items, specifically from the Western Europe campaigns. I've been into this hobby since 1997. I joined the bandwagon at about the start of the G.I. Joe Classic Collection series. The first figure I ever bought was the Joe D-Day Salute figure. I loved how the set came with a tent, backpack, bedroll, and all the neccesary gear that a soldier would carry. Being a 4" figure collector, I was amazed when I first really learned of all the miniature pieces of equipment and clothing that were possible in 1/6th scale.
Pictured above is my favorite 1/6th project, a Radio Control WWII Jeep. It's also the most extensive project I've ever worked on, featuring working lights, sound, steering wheel, exhaust smoke, etc. Pretty much everything that works on a real Jeep functions in 1/6th scale on this one. As you can see, it's great fun to drive, too. Since this is such big project it gets it's own page on the site, check it out!
Most my projects concentrate on U.S. gear and equipment. Left is a photo shoot I did for the Ulitimate soldier fan site that features a lot of the different pieces I've worked on. Click here to go to that page. Maybe eventually I'll start doing more projects dealing with German gear, but right now I'm trying to narrow down my interests. Though one subject I always have time for is vehicles. Check out the Other Vehicles page for links to my WWII paratrooper scooter, Harley courrier bike w/lights and sounds, and more.
Also I would like to thank all the people that are a part of the pages on my Links page. These different sites are a great help for information on all aspects of the hobby. The best part is meeting fellow hobbyist through clubs like the SSRG (Six Scale Reenactment Group) a local club in the New England area. Below is a pic from one of our club photo shoots. Finally, check out Shop @ Bean to see what custom stuff I'm currently making for sale. I doubt I'll ever get around to doing more than one or two items for that page, but I'll try to keep something on there. Ok thanks for visiting the site, have fun!
