| Cushing was first located south of the railroad with the stores facing north and south and the street running east and west. Later the town moved to its present location with the street running north and south and the buildings facing east and west. The president of Southern Pacific Railroad gave his name to the thriving community.The late Cardinal Cushing of the Catholic Church was a descendant of Cushings namesake. |
