  • Introduction

For celiacs, going out to eat and traveling gluten-free (GF) is often times challenging and awkward. With the right attitude and some preparation attending social, family and business functions involving food can be enjoyed to the fullest. What can be expected from the average restaurant? Usually the chef will know very little, if anything, about a gluten-free diet. The celiac needs to have the knowledge of his/her diet and the ingredients and preparation methods of the food, so you can communicate to the chef how to accommodate your needs.

Always be very specific and assertive as to your requirements. Never assume a menu item is prepared the same by different chefs. Always question ingredients and preparation methods. Keep in mind that these are recommendations - eat at your own risk. A telephone call to the restaurant prior to your visit would be strongly advised.

The following restaurant references are general in nature, i.e., you must decide for yourself, perhaps by a phone call, if they can accomodate the gluten-free needs of celiacs. If you have suggestions or good experiences, send email and we will add it to our listing.

City Search - Restaurants Throughout Colorado
Customizable - search for restaurants by cusine, neighborhood, price. Includes website links, maps, phone numbers, etc.

On The Menu, LLC - providing nutrition analysis, labeling & marketing services
Gluten Detectives - these investigators track down suspect ingredients and run background checks to ensure a GF outcome. Check out their website to find additional restaurants and food manufacturers providing GF foods in the Denver area.
