Who we are
Community Shield Azerbaijan (Baku) is a charitable organisation established in 2002 by a small group of volunteers working with the
Leprosarium at Umbaki, to the south west of Baku, Azerbaijan.
Today we continue to assist at the Leprosarium, but also support a variety of
other projects in and around Baku.
We need your help!
We are considering embarking on two major projects,
- The construction of a school near Mashtaga Psychiatric Hospital
- Building a transitional home for orphaned girls
If you would like to find out more about these projects, send an email to info@csabaku.org and let us know!
We are also looking for volunteers to help with our Community Care projects,
If you can spare an hour or two a week to assist in any of these projects, send us an email to info@csabaku.org and let us know!

9th December 2005 - Water tanks donated to Gizildash orphanage
The water supply to the orphanage works for only a few hours each day, and so in the past, residents would rush to fill
enough buckets with water to get them through the day, while the supply was turned in. Now, thanks to workers at the
Sangachal Terminal, close to Gizildash, two 3,000 litre water storage tanks have been installed, giving them a more constant
water supply - day and night. |

14th November 2005 - Sawdust heaters donated to Gizildash
Winter in Azerbaijan can be very cold, and in the semi-desert surrounding Gizildash there is little firewood available for heating,
leaving residents of the orphange dependent on the erratic supplies of gas and electricity to the building.
To help remedy this
problem, and also to make use of what would otherwise be waste material from the school's carpentry workshop, BP
has donated two simple sawdust stoves, and assisted in their installation in the common areas of the orphange.
