Crooked Steeple Morris
Womens North West Morris Clog Dancing
We are a womens North West morris dancing side. We dance while wearing clogs! The dances originate from the old mill villages of Lancashire, Derbyshire and Cheshire. The different figures in the dances portray the movements of the old mills, and the sound of the clogs mimics the sound of the looms. The dances were originally danced by the mill workers, and each mill village had its own personal dance, which was named after their town/mill village. Some of the original dances are still around these days, such as Lancaster, Gorton and Glossop.

We are based in Cleobury Mortimer, South Shropshire. The church in the small town has a crooked steeple, hence the name of the side "Crooked Steeple Morris". Cleobury Mortimer is situated at the base of the rolling Clee Hills, not to far from the Historic Market Town of Ludlow, famous for its castle and medieval buildings. We practice every Monday night at Lacon Childe School, which can been found on Love Lane in Cleobury itself.
