MATERIALS: Caron simply soft or other "limp type" yarn (MC - main color, CC - contrasting color)
Crochet hook size H (i crochet a little tight so you may want to try different size hooks)
Embellishments (i.e. - ribbon, flowers, beads, etc)
Finished size: length of dress approx. 12" from neck to hem
Gown is open all the way down the back.
Row 1: With MC, ch33, sc in 2nd ch from hook & next 4 chs, 3sc in next ch, *sc in each of next 6 chs, 3sc in next ch. Repeat from * two more times, sc in each of last 5 chs, turn.
Row 2: Ch1, 1sc in each of next 6 sts, 3sc in next, *sc in each of next 8 sts, 3sc in next st. Repeat from * two more times, sc in each of last 6 sts, turn.
Row 3: Ch1, 1sc in each of next 7 sts, 3sc in next st, *sc in each of next 10 sts, 3sc in next st. Repeat from * two more times, sc in last 7 sts, turn.
Row 4: Ch1, 1sc in each of next 8 sts, 3sc in next st, *sc in next 12 sts, 3sc in next st. Repeat from * two more times, sc in last 8 sts, turn.
Row 5: Ch1, 1sc in each of next 9 sts, 3sc in next st, *sc in next 14 sts, 3sc in next st. Repeat from * two more times, sc in last 9 sts, turn.
Row 6: Ch1, sc in next 10 sts, 3sc in next st, *sc in next 16 sts, 3sc in next st. Repeat from * two more times, sc in last 10 sts, turn.
Row 7: Ch1, sc in each of next 11 sts, 3sc in next st, *sc in next 18 sts, 3sc in next st. Repeat from * two more times, sc in last 11 sts, turn.
Row 8: Ch1, sc in each of next 12 sts, 3sc in next st, *sc in next 20 sts, 3sc in next st. Repeat from * two more times, sc in last 12 sts, turn.
Row 9: Ch1, sc in each of next 13 sts, 3sc in next st, *sc in next 22 sts, 3sc in next st. Repeat from * two more times, sc in last 13 sts, turn.
Row 10: Ch1, sc in each of next 14 sts, 3sc in next st, *sc in next 24 sts, 3sc in next st. Repeat from * two more times, sc in last 14 sts, turn.
Row 11: Ch1, sc in each of next 15 sts, 3sc in next st, *sc in next 26 sts, 3sc in next st. Repeat from * two more times, sc in last 15 sts, turn.
Row 12: Ch1, sc in each of next 16 sts, 3sc in next st, *sc in next 28 sts, 3sc in next st. Repeat from * two more times, sc in last 16 sts, turn.

Row 13: Ch1, sc in next 18 sts, sk next 30 sts, sc in next 32 sts, sk next 30 sts, sc in last 18sts, turn.
Row 14: Ch1, sc in next 33 sts, dec over next 2 sts, sc in last 33 sts, turn.
skirt
Row 15: Ch2, 2dc in same sp as ch-2, *sk next 2 sts, (sc, 2dc) in next sc. Repeat from *, ending with sc in last st, turn.
Rows 16 - 44: Ch2, 2dc in same sp as ch-2, *sk next 2 dc's, (sc, 2dc) in next sc. Repeat from *, ending with 1sc in top of turning ch, turn.
At end of row 44 change to CC yarn
Rows 45 - 46: Ch2, 2dc in same sp as ch-2, *sk next 2 dc, (sc, 2dc) in next sc. Repeat from * ending with 1sc in top of turning ch, at end of row 46 Fasten off.
Sleeve
Attach MC yarn to first st of underarm
Rnd 1: Ch1, sc in same sp as ch-1 & next 8 sts, dec over next 2 sts (6 times), sc in last 10 sts. Join to beg sc. [25 sts] DO NOT TURN.
Rnd 2: Ch1, sc in same sp as ch-1 & each st around. Join to beg sc. DO NOT TURN.
Rnd 3: Repeat rnd 2, at end change to CC yarn.
Rnd 4: Ch1, (sc, 2dc) in same sp as ch-1, sk next st, *(sc, 2dc) in next st, sk next st. Repeat from * around. Join to beg sc. Fasten off.
Repeat for other sleeve.
Neck edging
Row 1: Join CC yarn to first ch of neck edge, ch1, sc in same sp as ch-1 & each st across, DO NOT JOIN, turn.
Row 2: Ch1, sc in same sp as ch-1, ch3, sk next st, *sc in next st, ch3, sk next st. Repeat from * across to last 3 sts, sk next st, sc in next st, sl st in last st. Fasten off
Weave in all loose ends.
Add ribbon and embellish as you wish. I added a big snap at the back neck edge to hold the back closed.
