Flag Heart

Supplies:

Worsted wieght yarn, 4 ply
Colors:Red, White, Blue.

Gold or Silver Cord

Ribbon. (color of your choice, I used red)

Tacky Glue or Hot glue gun

#16 tapestry needle

For the Fireworks Pins:
Silver Pipe Cleaners
1" or 1 1/2" pinbacks

For the Keychains:
keychain of your choice
*You will need to make 2 of these hearts, just reverse the pattern so they line up on both sides.

For the Hair Clips:
Small lace
Small hair clip (will work best for a child or someone with thinner hair).

Stitches Used:
Tent Stitch
French Knot
Overcast Stitch

Instructions:

1. Follow the graph and cut out the piece.
(You will need two pieces for the keychain).

2. Work the stitches according to the graph. Work french knots & cording last.

*For the keychain, add the keychain by opening the small jump ring, hooking it through the holes of both pieces and then closing it back again.
Be sure to add the keychain BEFORE you do the overcast stitch. This will help secure it.

3. Overcast Edges.
*When making the keychain, make sure you have both pieces finished & the keychain attached first, then overcast stitch them both together.

4. Using gold or silver cord, you can either stitch it through the holes or you can go over the edge, wrap it around to the back and secure it with some glue.

5. Cut a piece of ribbon and make a small bow. Glue it to the top of the heart or on the side. (refer to picture).

For the Fireworks Pin:
Cut some pieces of the pipe cleaners in various lenths, two longer ones and two shorter ones, and glue them to the back in the center and then bend them slightly, (refer to picture).

For the Hair Clip:
Glue the lace around the edges on the back, let dry. Then glue the small hair clip to the back.

Make sure all the glue is dry before using or wearing. If you use a glue gun you shouldn't have to wait too long before you could wear it.
