He's the guy like you and me, with warts and worries and unfilled dreams.
Yet he stands taller than most of us ,
He's the Fireman.
A fireman at once the most fortunate and the least fortunate of men.
He's a man who saves lives,because he's seen too much death.
He's a gentle man because he has seen awesome power of violence out of control.
He's responsive to a child's laughter, because his arms held too many small bodies
that will never laugh again.
A warm bed for bone and muscle compelled beyond feeling.
The comaraderie of brave men and the devine peace and selfless service,
of a job well done.
When he marches its to honor a fallen comrade.
He doesn't preach the brotherhood of man,

I have been a Volunteer Firefighter for 24 years.. I have approximately 17 years
with my present company... I have worked my way from firefighter to lieutenant and now on to Captain .. I am currently fourth in command in an all Volunteer Fire Department.. I have held the office of Vice President for 7 years, I am on the Board of Directors for the second term and I am the current Vice President for the year 2001-2004...also spent a three year term as President of Battalion 22 Fire Officers Association..
