Instead of boring you with details of me, I want to use this opportunity to tell you about someone very special-my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
I began smoking pot when I was 14. I got into all sorts of drugs and alcohol. For the next 22 years, life was all about getting high.
In 1994, I had a dream that scared the hell out of me. In my dream, thousands of people were gathered, watching the sky for the return of Jesus. My wife, who was pregnant, was with me and my daughter. As the appointed time passed, and Jesus didn't show up, I poked my wife and said,"See, I told you there was nothing to that stuff." I looked back to the sky and saw a black dot, about the size of a BB. I pointed to it and asked my wife,"What's that?" As soon as I said it, the dot grew into a huge hole in the sky. I looked at my wife, and she wasn't pregnant anymore. My daughter had dissappeared. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. "You are going to spend eternity in hell, and there is nothing you can do about it! You had every chance-you could have asked Jesus to save you any day of your life, and He would have. But you didn't, and now it's too late." I realized the Bible was true. There is a heaven and there is a hell. And I was going to hell, with no hope.
A few weeks later, I went to church, by myself. The next Sunday, I went back and took my family with me. A couple of Sundays later, on September18,1994, my wife and I asked Jesus to save us, and He did! We gave up the drugs, the alcohol, and a whole lot more. "Whom the Son sets free is free indeed!"
Over and over again, the Bible tells us that we have all sinned. Sin seperates us from God, because God is Holy. God is in heaven, and because of sin we cannot go there. There is only one other place to spend eternity. A place apart from God. The lake of fire we call hell.
Over and over again, the Bible tells us of the Son of God, who came into the world to save sinners.
And over and over again, the Bible tells us how to be saved from hell. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved". For God so loved the world(you)that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever(you) believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." And my favorite, Romans 10:13," For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Do you believe in Jesus?
Can you trust Him with your eternity?
Will you ask Him to save you?
You can start your life over-I did. You can be set free from sin and addictions-I was.
You can have real peace, not the artificial kind that comes from drugs or alcohol-I do.
If God did it for me(He did), He'll do it for you!
Won't you put your trust in Jesus? Please ask Him to save you! He will! Check Him out for yourself. Read the New Testament. Start with Mark or John. But don't put of making a decision too long-the consequences are to dire!
