Well, I'm a few days late, but with good reason. I found some MAJOR bugs in the program. (That'll teach me to program 'till the wee hours of the mornin':) In any case, I felt it would be a good idea to delay the release until I felt comfortable with SQCMD's performance. So without any further delay, here's a few of the new features for 1.0.2:

1 - You can stack multiple /track commands. "SQCMD /play /track:2 /track:3"
2 - You can now repeat specific tracks. "SQCMD /play /track:2 r5"
3 - You can now specify a start and stop time for each track. For example "SQCMD /play /track:2 t00:45" will play the first 45 seconds of track 2!
4 - Specifiying /shuffle on the command line will force tracks to be played back in a random order
5 - SQCMD will now take input in the form of a file! (See the readme file included in the download for more details.)

There are more yet! But you'll have to download to see what they are! As always, download and have fun!

Best Regards,
C

Well, it's been a hectic month. I've had lots on the go and my home pc's hard drive bit the dust. (I'm awfully thankfull I make regular backups!) In any case, the next installment of Squeak CD player was delayed. With It being Thanks Giving weekend here in Canada, I intend to finish up a few changes and my testing and have 1.0.2 on the site by Friday. Be sure to come back then as I've added some new, more powerfull, features!

Hello everyone! Those of you that have been here before will notice that there has been a change to the Squeak homepage!

First, I will point out the links to the left. For each website that I post Squeak to, I will be adding another link to the list. There is no obligation to do so, but I feel its the morally right thing to do. Please be aware that they are sorted in alphabetical order, not by preference! =-)

Also, if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you'll notice a new counter (and a gif advertisement... sorry =-(, but it was necessary to get the counter.) I thought it would be neat to see how many people actually visit the site.

Also, one last thing before I go, 1.0.2 is in the works and is scheduled for release within the next 3 weeks.

C

Tada! Its a new version of squeak CD player! I've added a couple features to SQCD. As well as a screenshot! Here are the 3 mose significant changes:

1 - You can now specify what track to play via the command line by using "/track:# /play" as your arguments.
2 - You can now repeat selected tracks.
3 - The command line interface has been stripped from the GUI. This means that the supplied SQCMD.EXE (32Kb!) can be used in place of Squeak.exe, if (like me) you have no need for a visible interface.

Be sure to download and enjoy!

Howdy folks. Apparently I need a website in order for certain "websites" to allow me to provide you the user with free software. So here's my website. No Frills, no pictures, no nothing, (Except for the above link, and unfortunately, yahoo advertisements, but I can't very well do much about that.)

Please feel free to download the software. The package contains two files. The player, Squeak.exe, and a text file that contains instructions for "advanced" use. Squeak was written for one purpose and one purpose only. Play CD's with as little resources as possible. Personally, I'm tired of using the wide variety of bloated software out there. For some reason, my music just doesn't get any better when played through a highly graphical interface with all kinds of bells and whistles. ;) All it really does is distract me and take valuable resources from other applications. Hence the creation of Squeak.

Squeak makes a few low level harware calls to your CDROM in an effort to make it do all the work. (Its sorta like pressing the play button on the drive itself... well, for those of you that have a play button.) In that way, your only overhead is the Squeak interface itself. This bothered me as well, so now Squeak will also take command line options, allowing you to bypass the interface alltogether, giving you a program that will play your audio CD's without using any memory.

Best Regards,
C
