Largs is the most attractive seaside resort in the West of Scotland and the gateway to the islands of the Clyde. At the heart of the best sailing waters in Europe and surrounded by the hills of Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, it was voted Scotland's top tourist town in 1995 by Herald readers.
The town itself has a newly upgraded promenade, theatre, cinema, amusements, lively restaurants, dozens of pubs and good speciality shopping not to mention Nardini's Restaurant whose famous ice cream and unique service has become synonymous with Largs. And every visitor will want to take a ferry trip to Millport on the Island of Cumbrae or explore one of the other beautiful islands across the water.
In fact, there's so much to see, do and experience that your only problem will be deciding where to begin! You might start by exploring the saga of the Vikings in Scotland at multi-award winning Vikingar! - and take in a film or stage show, have a swim or visit the gym while you're there.
The truly athletic can hone their skills in badminton, tennis or athletics at National Sports Centre, Inverclyde - or practice your swing on the golf range, then put theory into practice on any of the five excellent golf courses in the area.
