This site was originaly concieved as a result of media reports about various problems with Ontario's brand spankin' new 407 ETR (The Highway of the Future). I was hearing about the problems that people were having getting in touch with the 407 ETR Operations Centre through their toll free line. This got me thinking about how people could get in touch with other parts of the 407 ETR mega-conglomerate in order to complain about the lack of service. Well then I found out about the billing fiasco (according to Eye Magazine nearly 180,000 people were mistakenly entered in the Ministry of Transportation database as having not paid their tolls), not to mention the fact the the Ministry may be providing debt collection services by not renewing late-payers licences.
The site is laid out in several sections. The Links section contains links to related pages (duh).
The Company Information section will tell you all about the consortium of companies who actually own the 407 ETR. The Operations Information section will tell you about the companies directly involved with the daily business of running the 407 ETR. |

WHO OWNS THE 407?

Well, that ain't a simple question so you won't get a simple answer.
The 407 is, to the best of my knowledge, owned by a consortium of three companies.
Grupo Ferrovial SA (A Spanish based multi-national conglomerate)
through its subsidiary CINTRA, Concesiones de INfraestructuras de TRAnsporte
Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec
through its subsidiary Capital D'Amerique CDPQ
(I don't believe CDPQ is very involved in operating the 407, they are merely investors.)
and SNC-Lavalin Group
through its subsidiary SNC-Lavalin Engineers and Constructors |
