The Propaganda Disinformation Machine - April 6/03

On this, the 19th day of the war on Iraq, some members of the Bill Hemmer Yahoo group have brought up the idea that Al Qaeda and Iraq are in bed with each other. I've decided not to answer those people directly, but here I have free reign. There has been no evidence that the two were connected. I wish they were, than I could justify this war for myself, and the support from the world community would be firmly behind America. Will the Iraqi people welcome their freedom? Maybe, but this seems like too high of a price when diplomacy wasn't given a fair chance to work. The UN is too important for our world to just be pushed aside and deemed irrelevant. We need it, without it there will be more invasions like Iraq. Damn it! This makes me too upset to even think. Way to go, Prez, your propaganda disinformation machine is succeeding, but this is one girl who's not going to fall prey to it! My mind is mine. And here I thought that imperialism went out in the 40's. Guess I was wrong.

And then there were 11 - March 12/03

American Idol kicked off Vanessa tonight. I thought Julia was going to get axed. Ruben and Clay, in my opinion, were the best. I would buy their cd's in a heartbeat. I don't know if I'm going to buy Kelly's new disc. It depends. I'm not crazy these days about artists performing music that they didn't write or at least have a hand in. I'm picky.

Disclaimer - March 7/03

Anti-war does not mean anti-American! Why can't people get that through their heads? As far as I'm concerned, I sound more like a Democrat than anything. People say that since I'm Canadian, I don't get a say in these type of things. I say that since I'm human I do! I believe and have faith in the United Nations. It was created for this exact reason. I think that in order to create a better country for the Iraqi people, UN peacekeeping troops should be used but not with force.

Back in the saddle again - March 4/03

Okay so I'm back to rant on. So the world's a mess... and it's about to get a hell of a lot messier. Has it really come to this? Launching pre-emptive strikes against a nation who we haven't heard a peep from for years? Threatening to kill thousands of Iraqi civilians? Using 9/11 as an excuse? It really pains me and frightens me that Dub-ya is planning on doing this with only his bi-otch Tony Blair beside him. No one want this war, they want to give the UN time to do their work because it will work! When someone like Kofi Annan is saying wait, you gotta listen cause he's a hell of a lot smarter than Bush. It's not like Iraq is going to bomb the states anyways. He's not in cahoots with Al Qaeda, there's no evidence. Plus all the hijackers were Saudis. Now here's my theory: the most important thing to Saddam is his regime whereas the most important thing to bin Laden is destroying the west (namely USA). I think that Saddam knows he made a tremendous mistake by moving into Kuwait and he probably doesn't want to mess with the states again. I just don't get it. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

What's new? - January 14/03

Well... I was in Alberta for Christmas, I'm dropping out of school and not going back in the fall, I'm back working a job I can't stand, my favorite Bee Gee died, and a war with whoever Bush figures is the badder guy looms on the horizon. Things couldn't be better. That's it.

I don't know if I'll be updating this site anymore. I'm bored of it. Plus I'm totally misleading people who are visiting this page. Kinda like stumblefuckers. So I bid thee farewell. Make love, not war... Be careful out there... it's a big, scary world.

All this for something that might happen - Dec 10/02

Rewind to the 1940's... Pearl Harbor has been attacked by the Japanese airforce... America is plotting revenge. Fear throughout the states prompts the American government to do the unimaginable. Japanese-Americans are rounded up and placed into internment camps because of something that they might do. But what happens instead is something that to this day I can't believe. America drops not one but two nuclear bombs on Japanese cities. As a consequence 200,000 people are killed, some instantly and some years later from cancer and other injuries. Saying that they did it to end the war was just an excuse as there was already evidence that Japan was going to withdraw from the war within a month. On a side note, I believe that the bombs were dropped in an effort to start the cold war as Russia had detonated their first nuclear bomb months earlier. And now America has threatened to do the same, to make the same mistake again. Thousands of innocent people could die because of something that Iraq may have in a few years. It doesn't make sense when there are so many other problems here right now... the economy, Al Qaida just to mention a few. W has to start thinking straight or else everything is going to go to shit.

My Anderson, so far away... - Dec 5/02

Due to the recent number of hits on my site regarding Anderson I'm adding a little bit more to what I have stated below. So many people searching the net, trying to find out if Anderson is gay or not. Fact is I don't know for sure. I have my suspicions and have heard the rumors but I have no answers. I know that a lot of women out there will claim the opposite until they find some sort of declaration made by Anderson. So bottom line: I don't know and I don't care. As long as he's happy about his life, it's all good. Right now he's in Doha, Qatar, hence the so far away title. If things heat up he'll be on the news a lot more, which is a good deal for his fans. For now he remains a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a blue shirt.

Religion vs Science - Dec 4/02

That almost became the topic of debate in genetics today. Some people are not very smart. One girl said that the reason why she doesn't believe in human cloning is that she doesn't want to be walking around and see someone who is her. Some other guy agreed with her and took it one step further by saying that the religious community would be upset over it. I countered by saying that if the science community did everything that the religious community wanted, we would burn our scientists at the stake unless they renounce! Most people liked that comment even though no one believes in human cloning. It nearly went further to a whole debate about if there is a god or not. I was prepared for the entire thing, if it was to come to that, but we ran out of time. My theory: science good, religion bad. Too many people have been killed in the name of a god than people who have died for science. Though some may argue that bombs are science and they kill people. But I say that science ends the moment that the government gets ahold of those weapons.

Harry Potter - Nov 30/02

I just saw Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I loved it! What an amazing story. I'm so happy that JK Rowling has got kids reading again, and such long books too. There are some people out there trying to ruin things for the kids though, some churchy muggles. I don't think there's anything wrong with the story. Kids are reading and having real fun at the movies. And it's quality stuff, well written, big words... it's all good. Now that I've seen the movie I can stop avoiding the commercials! Tomorrow Bond...

The Current State of Affairs - Nov 23/02

I was watching the news today and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Things have gotten so out of control and no one can stop it. Not George Bush, not Jean Chretien, no one. Shit is being thrown this way and that... everyone is getting covered and the blame and target keeps shifting. So some dumb assistant calls Bush a moron... she just said what many people are thinking. Pres. Putin told him that he should concentrate on bin Laden and not Iraq, probably turned around and called him a moron, too. Doesn't the US realize that Canada does not have the means necessary to launch a war? That's why Canada doesn't do that kind of thing. Their travelling antiques roadshow won't make it that far. They're the ones who showed up in Afghanistan with greem camoulflage, it was either that or polar camoulflage. And because they won't assist with daddy's war, they are personally attacked, not only by jackasses like Pat Buchannan, but by a lot of other people. It's got to stop. This is out of control. Then on the other hand, you've got all these white guys saying that stopping people based on their skin colour and origin of birth is not racial discrimination. As long as they aren't stopped at the airport and embarrassed as their luggage and papers are scrutinized... Hey, it was US immigration that let those hijackers into the country in the first place. Other people are labelling Canada as a safe haven for terrorists, hundreds of them to which there is no proof. Now it looks like we've all been dragged into this charade, this show, this circus. And we are all going to pay dearly for it.

My So-Called Life

Here is the brief run-down of my life so far. I grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Lived there until I was 9 when we moved to Edmonton, Alberta, where my family still lives. Lived in Toronto where I attended York University for a few years. My friend convinced me to move to New York with him where I worked as an administrative assistant for the past two years. I decided to go back to school so now I'm at NYU finishing up my degree. I might end up back at York for another term since some of my credits may not carry over to this degree. Keeping my fingers crossed! So I've lived everywhere from fairly small town to huge city and it's been great. I have really loved every place I've lived. I don't have any interest in staying in NY. My heart is in Canada and all my friends are in Toronto. I'll be back there someday but for now I'm going to make a go of it here.

Television: teacher, mother, secret lover

Firefly is pretty good but could be better. Note to Joss Whedon, it's not exciting enough! It needs something, that something that season one of Buffy had. I hope it stays on. Not really enjoying CSI Miami. I really don't like Kim Delaney, she's not very good. David Caruso is far to pale to be living in Florida. Plus the cases have been dumb. Torso in a shark, plane crash. Not good. Law and Order: Original Show has not been great either. Which is not good because I've been watching L&O (as I call it) for years, like 9 years! Too bad. But L&O Special Victims Unit is still good. Ice-T and Belzer make a good team. Simpsons is always good. Malcolm is by far one of the funniest shows on tv these days. I've been missing Friends but that's okay. They get paid way to much money. Alias is awesome. It's really too good for tv and for ABC. I think that's the only good show that ABC has. The Mole was good when hosted by my boy Anderson, but he won't be doing that anymore (tear). The only other thing on is Buffy and that's always good but this is the last season. And now Spike is evil again?!? I don't think I could take it if Buffy killed him.

Eric Szmanda

The first and only fanlisting for Eric Szmanda of CSI fame (see link on the side). He's super cute. I remember seeing him first on Freakylinks, a show I thought was great and miss lots. But it made me so angry! My email was on the newletter list so I got these really fun emails once a week and when the show was cancelled I got spammed something awful. I had to get rid out that address which I was sick of anyways. The name sounded like a 70's porn star. Anyways, I love CSI and Eric and Freakylinks.

Career Opportunities

So I'm thinking about becoming a CSI after school is finished. This plan will most likely change before I'm out of school. These are the professions I wanted throughout the years: fashion designer, shop owner, police, military (briefly), teacher, writer, artist, historian (what the hell was I thinking?), professor (again, huh?), and architect. I just can't decide. As my friend describes me, I have too many hobbies. I worked in an office of a small, privately run business and I don't want to do that again unless I own the business. Too many problems otherwise. I want a job that allows for growth and promotion. My last two jobs offered no promotion at all, and then when I got a promotion, my hours got cut! It's a long story... Then the previous job was a grocery store so there's no where to go from cashier. And the boss was too stingy to give out raises. Apparently minimum wage is good enough.

Anderson Cooper: Sexiest News Anchor/Journalist/Mole Host Alive (and I'm not the only who thinks so)

Anderson Cooper. As you can see, I'm a fan. Not only because he's so damn good looking but because he's smart and makes me care about the news. And he's totally sexy to boot. Make sure to have a look at the site his pic is linked to if you want to know more or see more of Anderson. But he's never on CNN. I don't know what's wrong with that network. I blame Paula Zahn because Anderson was on AM with her but I believe she got him kicked off. Now Bill Hemmer's on, which is not a bad thing but not as good. Here's a good pic of Anderson. See, I told you he was totally awesome. Word is he plays for the other team, know what I'm sayin'? But a girl can dream. Not like I was ever going to meet him, that he would fall hopelessly in love with me and we'd run away to Bora Bora, bask in the sun, swim in the sea... wow, totally sidetracked there.
