The Orissa Cooperative Coir Corporation Ltd, the State apex organisation was formed in the year 1989. The OCCC Ltd, with primary coir cooperatives as its members, is dedicated to the growth and development of coir industry in Orissa.
The corporation has set up its own modern composite coir factory at Birapratapapur, Puri to produce curled coir, rope, yarn, mats and mattings, dessicated coconut powder and other products. It has also set up another production unit at Paradip. The third production unit of the company, a rubberised coir plant, is fast coming up at Bhubaneswar with the assistance from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and the State Government.
The OCCC Ltd has opened showrooms in different places in the State Of Orissa and it organises exhibitions at various places for market expansion.
The OCCC Ltd is mainly funded by the NCDC and the Government of Orissa.
