To post a document (saved in html format) to your
Geocities web site, follow these steps:
1.  Before you can load the document into the Geocities server,  use the "save as" function In the "File" menu of your word processor to save the document as html or as a web page format.  If you are using a recent version of MS Word, you must save the document as a "web page, filtered" so that it has an .htm extension rather than a Microsoft-specific extension.

2.
Log onto Geocities and  go to the Web Page Builder

3.
Select Upload Files from the "File" menu at the top left corner of the page

4.
Click on one of the "browse"  keys on the pop-up, "Upload" menu

5.
Find your document on your disk and click on the "open" button

6.  When the document title appears,
click on "upload" to save  it to your Geocities directory.  This step just saves the document from your disk onto the Geocities server (wherever in the world that is) so that you can use it in the Web Page Builder

7.
A pop-up message tells you that the document has been successfully uploaded into your Geocities directory

8.
Click on the "open document" icon on the Web Page Builder menu

9.
Select your document by title; then click on the "ok" button when you are informed that the page was manipulated by a program other than the Web Page Builder (It was: You created it on a word processor and then saved it in .htm format.)   The document will open in the active Web Page Builder window

10. Each paragraph will be designated in its own text box.  (
If each line is in an individual text box, reopen your original document on your word processor, click on the paragraph symbol on the icon menu bar to enable the "show/hide" editing function, and reform the individual lines into paragraphs.  Once you have done this, save it again as html or web page format, and follow steps 3 through 8 again)

11.  Here's where it gets fun:
Click on the "addons" icon to choose one of the dozens and dozens of backgrounds.  Highlight your text and select whatever color or style is appropriate to your purpose, audience and the background you have chosen. Click on the "link" icon to make hot links to other web sites. Add a photo, clip art file, or animation from the "addons" files if they are appropriate.  Upload a scanned photo ("jpeg" or "gif"  formats only) from a disk into your Geocities directory and insert it onto your page by clicking on the "Pictures" icon on the top menu line and follwoing the instructions.  Don't worry; it's easy to do.  So have some FUN!
