The River Torridge is home to an abundance of Sea Trout and Salmon, and The Clinton Arms has a mile of the river available to fish.

The 'Bean Beat', also known as the Larder of the Torridge, is within easy reach of The Clinton Arms. Running downstream from the Old Rothern Bridge to the Bean Weir this stretch is probably the best holding water on the Torridge, yielding a seasons best (as of July 2000) a 9.5 pound sea trout in superb condition.

Other still water and course fishing is available locally.
