| We welcome your emails to find those trying to "better the breed", those who aren't "cashing in" on something that others are willing to pay a lot of money for and those breeders who have health clearances on their dogs and can show proof of this. Do your homework and find a breeder who is breeding within AKC standards and who truly cares about this lovely breed. Remember...all puppies are cute but, that doesn't mean they grow up to be "good tempered, healthy adult pets". The beautiful English Goldens are being imported by the dozen and bred as if they were "cash cows" and not beautiful animals....be careful! Attempts to improve the breed are few and far between as many rush to cash in on the 'white golden' trend. We are advocates of the humane treatment of animals whether they be pets or breeding stock. |

| If you live in the Southwest on an acre or more of land, it is very important to protect your animals from poisonous desert life. We have yet to have any of the animals we've raised, harmed by a wild animal but, it doesn't hurt to do whatever it takes to prevent this from happening. With all the modifications we've made to our property, this year we felt it was still wise to take the goldens through snake aversion training. There were a couple other goldens present that had the training years ago and proved that it was still effective today by walking away from the rattlesnakes in the training. Goldens are hunting and retrieving dogs....don't be foolish to think that they would not try to retrieve a poisonous snake. |

| In this photo Jim cannot walk Ava within 10-15 feet of one of the snake sites without her pulling away to go in the opposite direction. When we started the training her curiosity took her within a foot of the mat and making total eye contact with the snake. As he reared his head and began to rattle (see photo below) the desensitization process began until she was totally disinterested in "hunting" the snake. |
