Production of the Ranger began in 1982.  Production of the Bronco II began in 1983.  The two millionth Ranger/Bronco II was produced on April 26, 1988.
February 14, 1990 was the official launch of the Explorer.  An investment of $563 million was required to cover facility expansion, project develoment, engineering and other launch costs.  On August 27, 1993, the One Millionth Explorer rolled off the assembly line.
Sales of the Explorer continue at a record-setting pace, and on January 12, 1995, the Ford St. Louis Assembly Plant became the second plant to build the Explorer.
