Clara Hughes


Medals Winner at both Summer and Winter Olympics

Clara Hughes, born in Manitoba and now leaving during spring and summer in Glen Sutton, Quebec, won two bronze medals in cycling at Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996. In 2002, she won a bronze medal in speed skating at Salt Like City Olympics. She became only the fourth person, and first Canadian, to win a medal in both Summer and Winter Olympics.

Year 2003 was a mix of speed skating, road racing and track racing, with a gold medal at the Pan Am Games, before announcing, on August 28, leaving the sport of cycling.

The 2002 season, when she won a bronze medal at speed skating at the Olympics and a gold medal in cycling in the Commonwealth Games.
