HTML Language Converter Program
Introduction
Hello! My name is Chad Kieffer, and I've created a Windows 95/98/NT program that reads in German, Latin,
Beta Code Greek, or SMK (e.g. Athenian font) Greek text files, and allows you to create HTML files tagged for dictionary/morphological analysis use -- similar to pages at Perseus On-line. The actual setup program for the HTML Language Converter can be downloaded located here. You can find the instructions in ten easy steps here. This program is free. I just ask that you send me the link to any on-line pages you create with this program so that I can include it in my list of links below. I wrote this program to help students and linguists to study languages and texts. If you have problems or suggestions, you can send them to
esoterix@cox-internet.com and I'll try to respond to them as time permits.Mr. Whitaker has informed me that the pages won't work correctly if your browser's security level doesn't allow Java Scripts -- so be sure that your browser's security is set to allow Java and Java Scripts. Also, if you are trying to view the Greek text, be sure that you have a SMK or SMK-compatible font. You can find out more about it
here. If you have Netscape, and it still doesn't work, then change your browser's language settings to associate a SMK font (e.g. Athenian) with Greek Language Encoding. Send me an e-mail if you have problems figuring this out. I also have written a free simple conversion program to convert between fonts, which is based on a a mapping grid that you enter for the fonts. Let me know if you want a copy, and I'll e-mail it to you after I polish it up a little bit.
