Alan started out on BBC Radio 4, hosting his own chat show, "Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge"
...and attracting such star guests as child prodigy Simon Fisher (and his Dad, John) spawned
...as well as showing tact and decency when a
guest died during the show minute
The show was so successful that Alan soon found himself promoted to BBC television. And he didn't disappoint - Knowing Me Knowing You the TV show proved a hit, and Alan had every right to proclaim: "You'd better believe it babe, there's a new chat in town"
.One of Alan's strengths was his endearing modesty alanpartridge
...not to mention his superb command of the English language moribund \
...his generous comments about the French dogs
...his comic chemistry with musicman Glen Ponder, even after Alan had tried to sack him car
...and his ability to turn on the drama when necessary

"I'll be putting the CHAT among the pigeons"

Alan's breathtaking "Abba Medley" with singer Gina Langland
"Surprise me in rehearsal Glen - don't surprise me on a live television chat show"
But chat show hosting was not Alan's only talent. His ablities in the sports commentary box were evident during his stint on serious current affairs show The Day Today. As the goals flew in Alan always knew exactly what to say:
Things temporarily took a turn for the worse for Alan after he punched his boss Tony Hayers in the nose with a stuffed partridge during his Christmas Special show. The events that occurred after this were covered in the fly-on-the-wall documentary of Alan's life, "I'm Alan Partridge"
Alan tried
his hardest to persuade Tony Hayers to give him another series, putting his wit, charm and charisma to good use as the following

Sadly the narrow-minded Hayers would not listen. But Alan didn't
sit around feeling sorry for himself. By this time he had got himself an early morning
spot on Radio Norwich, where he was embraced by his listeners, predominantly
from the East Anglian farming community, who apreciated his knowledge and
depth of insight in rural matters.

Of course fame and success can make others jealous, as Alan discovered
when he found his car had been attacked by vandals. vandals

Luckily Alan ingeniously transformed the offensive graffiti:
