As a senior, Simms became Davey O'Brien Award's semifinalist. He carried on his family tradition as he got on the board of his professional career. While splitting his playing time with Major Applewhite, he tried to improve his mechanics. Simms in his career completed 535 of 911 passes for 7,097 yards, 58 touchdowns and 31 interceptions. He started 31 of 41 playoffs.
Positives: Simms possesses precision and suitable accuracy in his throws. When in the pocket he is capable of sensing the approaching pressure. Simms quickly scrutinizes the field to look for his alternate target and maintains the equilibrium. He is an efficient passer who exhibits remarkable overall accuracy. He makes quick moves with a smooth release and great speed. While concluding the game, he becomes consistent in his throws.
Negatives:
Simms when under pressure tends to throw the ball with great force. While on the run, he can't maintain the balance between his speed and throwing of the ball. Simms also needs to assume his responsibility when in the traffic. Though he has worked out on his gait to correct his mechanics, but still he let his back foot to hurl off. It seems he really find it difficult to set his foot again with consistency. Regardless of having an admirable personality and a quiet behavior, he is looking for some guidelines to develop poise in his talents in disguise. Simms for his short throws should gradually pick up the speed. Though he has all the requisites, but lacks the impulse. Due to the inflexibility in his lower body, he loses the speed while tossing the ball. Simms needs to polish his technicalities.
