Simms was born on 29 th August 1980 to Phil Simms. Currently he plays for Tampa Bay Buccaneers and hold 2 years of NFL experience. Buccaneers drafted him in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. His father is CBS Sports football reviewer. He was also the New York Giants leading passer from 1979 to 1993. Simms majored in Liberal Arts. His hometown is Franklin Lakes ; N.J. Simms is a talented and intense quarterback, who possesses a precise arm strength and elusive pocket awareness. In 2003, as an NFL rookie, he served as a third string quarterback. In the history of Longhorns, he proved himself as one of the leading signal callers. During his career with Longhorns, Simms completed 535-of-911 pass attempts for 7,097 yards, 58 touchdowns and 31 interceptions. For the touchdown passes, Simms rank second and for career passing yards, total offense and completions, he ranks fourth on the school's career chart. As the Longhorns starter he completed 449-of-758 passes for 5,810 yards and 48 touchdowns. He posted 18 career multiple touchdowns and completed 21 passes of 40 or more yards. He became the first starting quarterback in school history for 10 back-to-back successive wins.
