Honor Flights:
The Honor Flights program sends WWII and terminally ill veterans to Washington DC to see the WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War memorials as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  This trip is free of charge to the veteran.  If you know of a WWII veteran that has not gone on an Honor Flight, please have them fill out an application below and send it to Central Prairie Honor Flights at 1817 16th St, Great Bend KS 67530, or email it to Dan.Curtis@ks.usda.gov.  For more information, call 620-792-6224 or visit us at
www.honorflight.org.

We also need Guardians to accompany and assist the veterans on the flights.  Honor Flight would not be successful without the generous support of our guardians.  Guardians play a significant role on every trip, ensuring that every veteran has a safe and memorable experience.  Duties include, but are not limited to, physically assisting the veterans at the airport, during the flight and at the memorials.  Usually there is a guardian for every 2-3 veterans.  A guardian can be a son, daughter, grandchild or other able-bodied adult.  The cost for the guardian is approximately $500 for airplane fare and lodging, etc.
Click here for the Veteran Application, or click here for the Guardian Application.

Honor Flights is currently putting together a tabloid calendar commemorating the WWII Veterans that flew on our fall 2008 flights.  Ad sales from this calendar will help fund the flights we have scheduled for Spring 2009.  Businesses, civic organizations, friends and family are invited to place a 2" x 4" ad honoring our Veterans.  However, time is short.  They need to wrap up the ad sales no later than Friday, Jan. 23.  Please send your camera ready 2"W by 4"H ad along with a check for $50 to Central Prairie Honor Flights, 1817 16th St, Great Bend KS 67530.  Your contributions are tax deductible.  Please consult your tax professional for more information.
