Mid-June - On a environmental study trip to the Hawiian islands I got the chance to see a waterspout off the coast of Kilauea volcano. We were just about to start a 10 mile hike to the fresh lava flows and at about 4 O'clock my teacher and I witnessed it. It was a long ways off shore but I was still able to photographic it, unfortunatly it was so far away and almost gone that you have to be told that it is there. But still, I saw a waterspout.
Augest 26, 2001-I witnessed a funnel cloud. The funniest thing is, is that it chased me. I had no intention on chasing the storm I was on my way home from college for some Sunday dinner just before dark. I was driving North West on Highway 290 in Austin just about to get onto Loop 360 Northbound when I glanced over to my left and not a 1/4 mile from my position a funnel was dropping. It dropped about 2/3 of the way to the ground and then quickly retreated back into the rotating wall cloud.
I have chased oh about 15 times since this but due to my lazyness this site has not been updated. |
