"Believe me, my young friend, (said the water rat solemnly), there is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats." -The Wind in the Willows

Photos of our most active fleet member, Derr. He will sail in just about any wind condition. When there's no wind at all, he'll paddle his Folbot kayak around the lake.

I tossed Derr the disposable camera to get a couple shots of me with one of my Hobies.

I have the Trac (distant) moored at one of the inlets along the lake. No sailing on this day - no wind.

Oops… An early snow caught me off guard, and covered my cats with snow before I got a chance to cover them with tarps. The only thing already covered was my 16' Luger sloop.

My AMF Trac-14 catamaran. I used a Hobie jib that summer, but later that year found an NOS matching jib.

I know I shouldn't pick up stray cats, but… I adopted two AMF Trac-14 catamarans. One came only as a set of hulls, mast and trampoline - the other was complete. They were pretty inexpensive, and the larger hulls provide extra buoyancy to take both nephews for a sail on "light wind" days that are good for easy sailing.

Above, Brandon learns to use a jib along with a main on this nephew-sized Snark. And to make sailing a cat easier for the boys to learn, I bought a less-intimidating inflatable one.
