The Cartel's HIstory

The Cartel began, interstingly enough, in 1992 as a Wrestling Stable in the IWA (Imaginary Wrestling Association), a play-by-mail game. It was started by The Godfather (Yes it really was) and Paul Dillon.

Winning in the JRL, The Cartel expanded to other leagues within the federation and quickly its membership grew. From the origional 7 members to 20 members. Expanding further The Cartel joined forces with the Kansas Connection and the origional Brotherhood of Evil. That grew the membership from 20 to 43. In 1993 The Cartel entered Stablecade. With no eye on winning, just making a strong showing, The Cartel made it to the 6th of 8 rounds where they lost to eventual champions the International Pain Foundation.

The Cartel saw that it truely was a force in the IWA and its membership expanded from 43 to 65 and in 1994 entered Stablecade again. This time in the 6th round, again meeting the International Pain Foundation, The Cartel made it through to the 7th round losing to eventual champions WSL. This was an honor for The Cartel as they knew with such a small membership compared to those two groups that any strong showing would make its mark and it did. By the time 1995 rolled around The Cartel was holding strong at 65 members, even with the departure of thier old friends the Kansas Connection and Brotherhood of Evil who formed a rival team called the Angels of the Seventh Dawn, later named the Fallen Angels of the Apocalypse. The Cartel still stood tall and in 1995 once again made it to the seventh round of Stablecade, losing to eventual champions the International Pain Foundation. The Cartel however at the begining of 1996 decided it was time to move on from the IWA, and The Godfather and Paul Dillon packed up the house and left.

Later in 1996 Paul Dillon, as the wrestler Stunning Steve Blanchard, moved onto his first e-wrestling federation, the WWWWF (World Wide Web Wrestling Federation). He had some success there and once again formed The Cartel. This time with no old friends around, he had several members join him and together they dominated the WWWWF until the suspension of Blanchard, which spelled the demise of the group.

1997 was a lean year for The Cartel, with Blanchard having spent sporatic time in e-feds. However 1998 saw the begining of his Ultima Online career as Madmartigan and up sprang The Cartel again. This time he had some help getting it off the ground by his old friend MrCrusader and the two of them used the guild to run rough shod over others in PvP. The two also hunted the East Road of Britain from time to time, kiling monsters and players alike. This continued for several years with The Cartel's membership growing and shrinking and growing again. It was here that they met Eldacar. During thier time on the Napa Valley shard, Madmartigan also spread out to the Atlantic shard where he would join the games premier guild, The Syndicate.

During this time, in 2000, Madmartigan again as Stunning Steve Blanchard, joined an e-wreswtling fed named the Hell Wrestling Organization. He again had some success and was joined by MrCrusader as The Hunter Sinjin Savage, to re-form The Cartel. Interstingly enough another old face from the past cropped up in that fed, The Godfather, going by the name Alex Anderson. Once again The Cartel of old was formed and the men helped to make the hWo into a strong federation.

2001 saw the end of the hWo, not long after Blanchard had left. Madmartigan and MrCrusader concentrated on UO for some time along with Eldacar, and the three men had an idea to spread themselves to a new game, but what game to choose. Then they heard about the upcoming Star Wars Galaxies. Well, all they had to hear was the Star Wars name and the three men were hooked. They decided that they would take all thier years of experience at playing and running a guild to this new game. And here we are, today, awaiting the release of what should be a very exiciting game...
