| The Carrollton Junior Woman's Club (aka CJWC) is comprised of six departments:
Arts This department includes arts and crafts, literature, drama, music, and dance. They sponsor the annual Arts & Crafts show the first weekend of November each year, earning the majority of funds for disbursements and increasing community awareness in the arts. The show and the quilt, made by the membership are two main Arts projects. Conservation Protecting and preserving the environment is this department's goal. This goal is achieved by involving members in energy awareness, recycling, land and widlife conservation projects. Members get involved with outdoor classrooms, beautification projects energy education projects, community clean up and recycling projects. Education The education department utilizes the talents and energies of members to overcome illiteracy within the community by donating funds and books to local schools and libraries; sponsoring the Summer Reading Program, sponsoring a scholarship at the State University of West Georgia, and by volunteering at local schools. Home Life These members work on health issues, drug and alcohol abuse, youth suicide, teen pregnancy, economics, Care Seat Safety, SIDS and everyday living management. They have adopted needy families, donated time and materials to local Soup Kitchen, Emergency Shelter, Alice's House Childrens Home, Carroll County Racpe Crisis Center, and local Children's Hospitals. They participate annually in the American Cnacer Society Relay for Life and March of Dimes. They also sponsored the CJWC Autum Fun Run held the same day as teh Annual Arts and Crafts Show on the Square. International Affairs Projects of this department include supporting Red Cross, international student programs, world hunger projects, and working with the international students at the local State University of West Georgia. Public Affairs The Public Affairs Department includes citizenship, crime prevention, and safety. They work to educated members and the community on legislative actions like gun control, child abuse, and other issues of importance to our community. They assist with a "Super Sitters" class to teach future baby-sitters safety, first aid and responsibility. Another popular program is "Buckle Up Bunny" who teaches seat belt safety to area preschoolers. They also sponsor annual Car Seat Safety Checks where certified technicians inspect car seats. They also support Rail Road Crossing Safety and Halloween Trick or Treating Safety. Special Projects: Tallulaha Falls Annual Arts & Crafts Show Annual Cross Stitch Quilt Project |
