| Carly Pope was born on August 28th, 1980 in Vancouver,
British Columbia. She was the middle of three children, both brothers. She
remains close with her family, and despite her success returns to Vancouver
often to spend time with them. Carly trained in dance until she began school
at Lord Byng Secondary School. At that time, she started studying drama, her
talent for the acting was evident, so she was placed in an advanced class.
An agent caught Carly's performance at a school play, and immediately signed
her on to play a part in "Cowboys and Aliens" a film shooting in Eastern
Europe. Carly returned to Europe, satisfied with her acting experience and
ready to continue her education. She enrolled at the University of British
Columbia, but only made it a semester before the acting gods were pounding
down her door. She grabbed a role in a Showtime film, "A Cooler Climate"
which costarred Sally Field and Judy Davis. She had a quick role in "Snow
Day" with Chevy Chase. But the role that changed her career for good was
that of Samantha on the WB's Popular. Following in the footsteps of Dawson's
Creek - a runaway success that looked at the lives of high school kids - the
WB started Popular to look at yet another high school's halls. This time,
the show stars two young women who are forced to live together as sisters
when their parents marry. Carly's got the role of Samanta (opposite Leslie
Bibb), and the series quickly won critical and commercial praise. Carly's
career had just received one of the biggest jumps an actor could ask for.
Ironically, Carly had auditioned for the role of Liz on the WB's Roswell,
but was rejected. She was also rejected for the role of Brooke McQueen on
Popular. Carly currently resides in Los Angeles. She enjoys long walks and
is an avid poetry reader. If you're looking to date Ms. Pope, the best way
in would be to teach her how to play the guitar, as she's desperately trying
to learn how. |
