| I grew up with the privilege of having an artist as a mother. I admired her talent to create such realistic scenes and portraits. I watched her paint for hours at a time emulating techniques. She said she wished she would have pursued a career in art. She worked at an unrelated job feeling like she was neglecting her talent. This is why I feel I have a responsibility to myself to make the most of my skills and talents. I have taken every opportunity that has come my way to learn and perfect different techniques and media. After taking a variety of courses related to art, I found an art school with a great graphics program, so I attended the Illinois Institute of Art and achieved my degree in Graphic Design. I see graphics as an alternative art media which is currently in steady demand, and I continue to draw, paint, and exhibit in my free time. Constantly creating brings me a sense of inner peace and accomplishment. I look forward to furthering my career in art and design. I am satisfied in knowing my talents are not neglected, and my success is proof that although my mom didn't work in the art field her talents were not wasted. She inspired me to educate myself and seek out a career that I am passionate about, and that passion can be seen in the work I do. |
