I have found a hidden space,
somewhere between heaven
and earth,
where no one surrounds me.
There is much to see and hear and smell.
I see colors and clovers.
I hear birdsongs and
oiled wings flicking the water.
The scent of sweet
wild onion
will soon be wafting in the air.

Cane River is a beautiful riverlake winding through Natchitoches Parish, in north central Louisiana. The native Louisiana Iris bloom in yellows and blues all along the riverbank in the spring. There are many turtles and frogs and waterfowl, such as ducks, egrets and herons. |
