| The New Chapter Registration/Charter Application was made on June 8, 1979 for Piney Woods Sams of Hemphill, Texas (Region 4) by President Howard (Buddy) Keith, Rt. 2 Box 140, Hemphill, TX75948 and Secretary Mary Kinser, Star Route, Milam, TX 75959. Total membership was to be 6 rigs with group interest being Fun, Games, Fellowship and Camping. | There are, at present (June 1, 2006), 14 member families with rigs. Our members live mostly in Southeast Texas in what is now Area 16. Our members are from Hemphill, Broaddus, Orange, Woodville (Ivanhoe), Bronson, Lufkin, Brookeland, El Campo, Port Arthur, Burkeville and Jasper, Texas. We camp for the most part within 100 miles of Hemphill but do range a little farther away for a weeklong campout each Spring and when we attend Samborees around the state and surrounding states. We enjoy playing 42, Mexican Train, Chinese Checkers, Sequence and anything new. There is always plenty to eat and lots of stories (some of which are true) being told and the only thing we steer clear of are politics and religion. We support and contribute to Dogs for the Deaf, The American Cancer Society, The Salvation Army and any other worthy organization dedicated to helping the helpless and uplifting the downtrodden. Our Motto (We Take Nothing but Pictures and Leave Nothing but Footprints.) |
