More About The Camp

Camp Heart to Heart's counselors and support staff are all volunteers.  Many of them return from year to year.  The camper to counselor/staff ration is approximately 3 to 1, or as needed.  The camp is continuously searching for volunteers to serve as senior counselors (ages 18 - up) and junior counselors (ages 16 - 17), who will assist the children with all of their daily activities and live with the children during the camp.  Counselors are required to stay on the camp compound for the duration of the camp.  We are also looking for support staff personnel (ages 16 - up), who can help in any of the following areas:   1) pre-planning for upcoming camp activities, transportation needs, fundraisers and recruiting;  2) assisting the children with special camp activities and/or releaving counselors periodically throughout the day;  3) coordinating and running specific camp activities.  Support staff applicants should include, on their applications, the dates and times when they can participate with the camp.  Applications for counselors/support staff are available on this website or you can contact one of the camp's co-directors.

Transportation may be provided for children who reside within a 50 mile radius of Louisville, KY depending on availability of volunteers and need of the children's family.  Those who live in the Louisville Metro area will meet at a central location (House of Ruth, 607 East St. Catherine - corner of Hancock and St. Catherine) to be transported to and from camp by school bus.  Volunteers can provide transportation to and from the camper's home to House of Ruth, if needed.  If camper lives outside the 50 mile radius, the camp directors will work with HIV/AIDS service organizations or volunteers, if available in your area, to try and arrange for transportation.  Counselors and staff members are asked to provide their own transportation, unless arranged with the directors prior to the beginning of camp.  Contact one of the camp's directors for additional information.
