Welcome to Calderdale disability Art's Web Site, this site is split in to two main sections, one section is mainly text based and the other is graphically orientated.

Please note that many of the graphics pages use Macromedia's Flash plug in, which is automatically installed if you try to access a page with Flash content on it. You will be asked for permission to download it if the installation takes place. Most of the pages also have quick links at the bottom of the page, so scroll down the page if you don't want to wait for the Flash content to download.

The reason this site is split in to two, a text and graphical version of every page, is that a text based version of the site has several advantages for people with visual impairments. Firstly the text can be made larger and secondly the text to speech software, which can be helpful for people with visual impairments, tends to work better when text is layed out in lines and not columns.

It would have been preferable to have written an integrated site which had graphical pages that were accessible, however much of the content of this site is orientated towards artistic expression, which may at times not be easily made accessible. One of the arguments for splitting a site in to two is that often both versions are not kept equally up to date, Calderdale Disability Arts is committed to applying any updates to both sections of the site.
