Tucked away at the northern end of the Costa Brava is the wonderful fishing village of Cadaques.
This onetime home of both Dali and Picasso has more recently attracted such people as Mick Jagger and Gabriel Garcia Marquez, whose autographs can be seen amongst the huge bizarre candles of L'Hostal- a lively bar on the seafront Passeig.
An enormous part of the charm of Cadaques is the fact that it has remained largely unspoiled. Despite its popularity with the in-crowd it has never become a ridiculously expensive place to pose like Saint Tropez, and meandering through the ancient streets you'd never imagine that you were only 30 miles away from the massive and tasteless developments of Tossa and Lloret de Mar.
