ZC Swap Click the pic to see the full size. Then use your browsers Back button to get back to this page. This is my buddy Nick. I sold him my 90 si and we are working to make it a killer street car. We both did the work for free just to get experience at motor swapping. This CRX is Powered by Nick! lol This is the cleaned up ZC. We went ahead and put some Chikara headers on it cause the old ones were scrap. We wrapped those and put a ACT street clutch on it. Then fresh plugs, wires, distributor cap, and a vacuum hose kit almost everything in red too. Another shot of the ZC. We ended up using the original Si tranny cause the one that came with the ZC was a little rough. We had to drain the oil and put the downpipe on sometimes. The ZC was pulled after about 5 months in another 91 Si. It already had a fresh t-belt and water pump so we skipped that. It also has a lightened crank pulley which is not pictured. More on the ZC. You can see the underdrive pulley here. This is a pic of the original motor. The hole was caused by a broken rod as best as we can tell. This was done while rolling on the throttle in 5th at around 100mph. We didn't know what happened because the A\C compressor was covering up the hole. This is a pic of a dead fool. Nah he is trying to get the shift linkage disconnected. We ended up pulling the entire linkage rod out cause we couldn't get the pin out. Another dead guy! Nah just more troubles with under the car stuff. This is a shot of the old SOHC coming out. FINALLY!!! This is the empty engine bay. Looks kinda funny with nothing in there.
WHEW!!! It took us 5 Sundays but we finally got the ZC into the CRX. We called it quits as soon as we got the engine mount bolts in! Another of the last shots of the night.
The following Sunday we spent the whole day hooking everything up. Unfortunately when we went to fire it up it wouldn't start. We have determined it is not the firing order and suspect the main relay thus not allowing the fuel system to prime up. We are hoping to get it running this weekend. Updated on 11-22-00
