A lion hearted performer: A Profile on Zaheer Khan by Bhavya Kumar Vasudevan   The very first bowler to set a new trend amongst Indian bowlers. Ever since his debut in October 2003, India's bowling for the first time in many years was seen to be spearheaded by a young blood. His debut was a revelation, as he seemed to trouble batsman with pace and a very sharp yorker. He along with a couple of other young cricketers made a huge difference in his debut tournament where India reached the finals of the ICC knockout trophy in Kenya.

Ever since that tournament, Zaheer Khan, like any pace bowler has had his share of injuries. Over the years he has dropped his pace considerably. However, with experience he seems to gel well during the final overs and cope up with the pressure very nicely. A regular visitor of the MRF pace foundation, Zaheer has got a very good mentor in Dennis Lille. India will be hoping that this Baroda paceman has got a lot to offer in the future. At an impressive average of almost 25 runs per wicket, Zaheer has started very well. An average of such magnitude at the end of his career would make him a very pround man and India a very strong team.
