Timbron Base Moulding
You will not believe how it BURNS!
There is absolutely no trick to this. Take a match or cigarette lighter and touch the flame to the Timbron. It catches fire easily, and just keeps burning.
Be sure that you are doing this in a safe place with water on hand.
Most people would expect wood to burn easily, and that is what most of the other moulding products sold there are made from.
Take a piece of wood moulding and repeat the test. You will have a surprisingly hard time getting it lit and in most cases the flame will extinguish itself.
You have to ask yourself if Home Depot does any testing on the products they sell. Or if they just rely on the manufacturer's claims.
Timbron's literature suggests that they passed fire testing in Europe. They do not say anything about any sort of testing here in AMERICA.
Perhaps they should use some organization with a reputation that you trust,.....like Underwriter's Lab.
You have to wonder about fire codes in Europe as well. There are people there who still think it is OK to use dried straw to make a thatched roof.
After being shown this burning demonstration, a firefighter stated that this would definitely NOT meet the fire codes in his town for public buildings, hospitals, libraries, nursing homes and the like. And yet, you see no warnings about this at Home Depot.
You have to wonder how many buildings are unknowingly in violation of their fire codes.
This only took one try.
This is actually dripping fire onto the floor at this point.
The black smoke that pours off of this is pretty nasty. Ash flies off of it at this stage.
