Indo Arab Cultural Fest continue to act as a platform for exchange of concepts  between culturally  and commercially  advanced   Arab world  and the Indian community.  It aims at establishing itself as a major international festival,  thereby boosting  the development and growth of the cordial relationship between the two communities. As the Indo-Arab diplomatic and economic relations setting up new heights, we feel that a cultural expansion and a means to safeguard the existing one is  the need of the hour.

Road to Palestine

An evening for Palestinian literature, Arts and discussion:

 

V.S. Anil Kumar, Short story writer from India speaks on the subject. Sitting: MCA Nazer- Senior Reporter- Gulf Madhyamam, and Prof. Madhusudanan Nair, poet.

Story,'Land of Sad Oranges' written by the Palestinian Story writer & freedom fighter, Ghassan Kanafani, and translated by S.A.Qudsi, was read by K.K.Moideen Koya, Radio Artist.

Mahmoud Darwish who is widely considered the Palestinian national poet has developed this metaphor to richly lyrical effect. Born in a village destroyed by Israeli soldiers in the 1948 Arab- Israeli war, he has evoked the loss of his homeland in more than two dozen books of poetry and prose, which have sold millions of copies and mad e him the most celebrated writer of verse in the Arab world."Many people in the Arab world feel their language is in crisis", the Syrian poetry critic Subhi Hadidi said. "And it is no exaggeration to say that Mahmou d is considered a savior of the Arab language."

Ghassan Kanafani, the famous Palestinian journalist, novelist, and short story writer, whose writings were deeply rooted in Arab Palestinian culture, inspired a whole generation during and after his lifetime, both in word and deed. He was born in Acre in the North of Palestine in 1936.

 In July 1972, he and his young niece Lamis were killed by Israeli agents in a car bomb explosion in Beirut.

Khalil Gibran: Life & Poems

Mitri Boulos, Lebanese scholar speaks on the subject: Love of Khalil Gibran to India. Sitting, Hameedali and Mohammad Eid Ibrahim

Ali Kanaan, Syrian writer speaks on the occasion. Sitting: Egyptian Poet Mohammad Eid Ibrahim and Hameed Ali, President- Indian Cultural Centre (ICC)

Khalil Gibran was born in 1883 in Lebanon. He was a poet, philosopher and artist and his poetry has been translated into two dozen languages. His drawings and paintings were compared by Auguste Rodin to the work of William Blake. His books include The Madman, The Forerunner, The Prophet and The Broken Wings. He died in 1931.

Dr. Mitri Boulos is a world renowned scholar from Lebanon. He is the author of a number of books.
