Welcome, O Stranger passing by . . . You have stumbled onto something unique, for herein lie the collective memories in word and image left by the two hundred or more people who excavated at the site of ancient Halieis, Greece, between 1962 and 1980. Check out the contents of this site via the sidebar, left. See and read about amazing exploits on land and in the sea. Be sure to browse the two or three hundred photos to be found here in one department or another--see how great we all looked back then.
The Halieis website will move later this year. Yahoo!, in its infinite wisdom, has decided to shut down Geocities, where we have been hosted all along. Check back from time to time, and when a new hosting service has been selected, we will post the new internet address. Who knows? There might even be a proper Halieis domain name. |

Here's what people are saying: "Halieis redux--what a postmodern idea if there ever was one!" ... "Halieis, for all its tribulations, was a really important experience for me" ... "I have nothing to contribute. Halieis was hardly a defining moment for me" ... "Those were very happy times for me, and I treasure them." ... "I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Porto Cheli and have fond memories of both the people on the dig and the town."
First Two Halieis Volumes
Appear! A third volume, as yet untitled, is slated to
appear sometime soon (we hope). | |||||||||||||||||||||
