We all know the KAPPA'S, the QUE’S, the ALPHA’S, and the SIGMA’S,
and now its time to meet the IOTA’S. The brothers in the CHARCOAL BROWN
AND GILDED GOLD are known as the men of IOTA PHI THETA FRATERNITY, INC.
Founded on SEPTEMBER 19, 1963 on the campus of MORGAN STATE UNIVERSITY in
Baltimore MD.
IOTA PHI THETA is more than a fraternity, it’s a concept… a way
of life. By joining IOTA PHI THETA, you are agreeing to always strive for
excellence in all facets of your life – academically, professionally,
and personally. Furthermore, you are committing to consistently strive to
be the best despite any and all obstacles.
This concept has its roots in the founding of the organization. When IOTA
PHI THETA was founded, there were already a number of fraternities in existence.
Our Founders chose to strike out in a bold new direction and this was not
easy. It took a special breed of men to go against the grain and to stand
tall for what they believed. The strength and convictions and the soundness
of the concept of IOTA sustained them.
IOTA PHI THETA is a nationally incorporated social/service Fraternity, which
continue to remain true to the original purpose, envisioned by its founders.
That purpose being “THE DEVELOPMENT AND PERPETUATION OF SCHOLARSHIP,
LEADERSHIP, CITIZENSHIP, FIDELITY, AND BROTHERHOOD AMONG MEN.” While
the fraternity is comprised primarily of African Americans, race, creed, or
national origin does not restrict membership.
There's a Certain Type of Brother
Thats different from the rest.
That is quite like no other,
yet, he strives to do his best
He's focused on his studies,
Some may say he's perhaps unique,
He spends time with his buddies
Even if they are not Greek
The world he will attempt to change
In Every positive way he can
Although it doesnt really seem strange
That he is an IOTA MAN.
